Ellen5 Stars Out Of 5Our Hope for the FutureDecember 12, 2014EllenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The final volume in the 13-volume "What's in the Bible" series has 2 episodes, both 25-minutes long. The first deals with the 7 letters not written by Paul, and Episode 2 is about the book of Revelation.
It reminds us about the 4 parts of the New Testament: the Gospels, the book of Acts, the Pauline and General Epistles, and Revelation.
Why these 7 books are called "General Epistles" is answered. They are the books of Hebrews, James, 1st and 2nd Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, and Jude.
Who wrote the General Epistles, and some big ideas from each one of them are covered.
We hear about what faith is, controlling our tongues, being doers of the Word, being encouraged in faith, true versus false teachings, and more.
Who divided the Bible into chapters, and the importance of memorizing scripture are also covered in an enjoyable way by Phil Vischer and his puppets.
For Episode 2, the puppets are hoping they wont end on a tricky book. So why not skip Revelation? This is discussed by VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer, then with his puppet friends, they tell about what the Bible tells us about the end, and the new heaven and earth.
Vischer and his puppets explain what apocalyptic means, and that Revelation has symbols in it, including symbolic numbers, and what some of them mean.
What was happening in history when Revelation was written is discussed. The seven scrolls, seven trumpets and God's wrath, and the Lamb with 7 horns and 7 eyes, and the beast rising out of the sea and another beast, and the 7 plagues, and the dragon thrown into the lake of fire--and that the devil has already lost, and the great city 1400 miles high are all covered next.
They tell us, because of Jesus, God can see us as friends, even though the "world is a messy place."
This volume, like the others in this excellent series, is simply so packed with information that it can be watched over and over without losing interest.
Vischer and his gang of puppets, clear examples, brightly colored backgrounds, fun brief songs, and animation create a happy adventure into the Bible--including the book of Revelation.
Revelation is about hope, not just strange and tricky symbols.
Bonus Features include "Show Outtakes" and "Michael's Deleted Scene."
Superb childrens series, but all ages will be blessed by it.
Having gotten the first of these DVDs from the library, I decided to invest in the whole series. Having reviewed each of these shows, I will also review the whole 13-Volume series which comes together in one package, and which may cost less than buying this series as 13 individual DVDs.
