This book is about two orphans: one a young woman, Emily, who is sent away from the orphanage she grew up in to become a bride of an older man she never met and one young man, Luke, who grew up an orphan after his family was killed during an Indian attack.

Emily and Luke both find themselves in situations they do not find ideal. Will they eventually get what they want in the end?

I enjoyed this book and found it very entertaining. There were enough twists and turns that I did not find it too predictable. The author described the main characters in such a way that I really cared about them.

The banter back and forth between Emily and Luke was funny. The suspense around Luke's safety kept me wanting to read more to see what would happen.

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.

I don't usually pick up a Christian Historical Romance novel off the shelf just to read for pure enjoyment. However, had I realized what Harris has done with her characters in The Vigilante's Bride, I wouldn't have hesitated at all. Harris doesn't write exclusively from the woman's perspective (something that makes it difficult for this man to read). Instead, she incorporates the perspectives of each of the main characters and this livens up the action a great deal. There are some very riveting points to this book that will keep you turning pages until your eyes are about ready to fall out just from attempting to read faster than they are able. Great stuff. I highly recommend this book for a rainy day fun read.

Years after his family's tragic deaths, Luke Sullivan is still trying to come to grips with the man who made his life miserable. Robbing a stagecoach and kidnapping his mail-order bride, seems to be a first step at getting back at him and trying to save the girl. Emily McCarthy is fairly put out at being kidnapped but ultimately begins to appreciate her new home at New Hope. Together they try to solve the mysterious things going on at New Hope and learn what faith is really all about.

I really enjoyed Yvonne Harris's first historical romance. The Vigilante's Bride is fast-paced and kept me flipping the pages as fast as I could. The author provides a great balance of romance and adventure. While the book is set in the Montana Territory in 1884, the author does a great job of helping you relate to the characters as though they were in the room with you.

I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Emily McCarty has found herself in quite a predicament. Aldersgate Home For Girls in Chicago where she grew up has decided they needed her room to house 6 new girls. Miss Beecham, the director, made the decision that she would be transported out west in reply to a Chicago Daily Tribune ad for a bride. Much to her discontentment the arrangements were already made, the school already received the money; everything was taken care of. Unfortunately, the only thing Emily knew was his name and that he lived in Montana.

When Luke Sullivan decided to rob the stagecoach little did he know a pretty redhead would be on board. His plans were to even up a score with a man, reclaiming the money that was stolen from his pa years ago. But there was no way he could leave Miss McCarty to wed his enemy. He considered it rescuing her, taking her on horseback to New Hope Foundling and Orphan Asylum for shelter.

What does Miss McCarty consider it? Does she turn Luke in to the sheriff for kidnapping? Will she stay on at New Hope or will she marry Bartholomew Axel, a man old enough to be her grandpa? Now that Luke Sullivan has found his way back home will he lose the chip on his shoulder and find his way back to God? All these answers can be found in The Vigilante's Bride.

MY THOUGHTS: This is one of the first books I have read that I would consider a western. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a very easy read; I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance with a few twists.

Ah! I loved this book. It had all of my favorites! Romance, adventure, COWBOYS... ;) It had a unique plot with twists and turns that were very well done. Yvonne really did a great job with the characters. I loved Emily and Luke so much. I was actually a little worried when I started reading it. I thought it might be one of those run-of-the-mill westerns, but that was not the case! I was even surprised by the humor in the book. Now, it wasn't by any means a comedy, but there were a few times when I laughed out loud while reading. I can't wait to see what other books this author has coming, but for now, put this on your TBR list!
