Wandas ancestors were part of the Anabaptist faith, and her novels are based on personal research intended to accurately portray the Amish way of life. Her books are well-read and trusted by many Amish, who credit her for giving readers a deeper understanding of the people and their customs.
When Wanda visits her Amish friends, she finds herself drawn to their peaceful lifestyle, sincerity, and close family ties. Wanda enjoys photography, ventriloquism, gardening, bird-watching, beachcombing, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Richard, have been blessed with two grown children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Any doubts I had about this series have vanished. Book 2 introduces many new characters and there is so much more plot line developing. I was so engaged in the story that any repetition seemed inconsequential. The author's characters are still very simple people, but life is happening for them in a very big way. I'm looking forward to Part 3.

He was taking the bus to his uncles when he was beaten and left in the bus stop bathroom. The same day Meredith finds out she is carrying their child The bus he was suppose to be on is slowed down by the storm and Meredith anxiously awaits a call that he made it to his uncles. Before a call come she is visited by the local sherrif with news that the bus Lukes was to be riding was hit by a gas truck and eveyone on it is killed. Luke is taken to a hospital where he is unconscious.
The Silence of Winter is part 2 of 6 in The Discovery saga written by Wanda E Brunstetter. Just like part one, this is a very good book and is easy to read. I found the book very sad to read but very realistic. I do not want this story to end. I can't wait to see what happens - does Luke wake up, does he know who he is?
tammycookblogsbooks4 Stars Out Of 5The Silence Of WinterOctober 15, 2013tammycookblogsbooksNow that Meredith Stolzfus, from Bird-In-Hand, PA, knows that her husband Luke has been killed in a bus wreck she tries to continue on without him, for herself and their baby. She decides the best way to do that is to stay busy. She also meets up with Jonah Miller, an old friend.
Meanwhile, Susan Bailey is introduced. She is a single, 28 year old nurse in Philadelphia, PA. Susan has a patient, "Eddie" as she calls him that is in a coma. He came in as a John Doe. She feels the need to pray for him a lot.
I felt bad for Meredith as she was working through her depression. I was glad she had Frisk, her dog, to talk to and care for.
Susan is a good example of how we should pray - always and for everything.
Readers may not like that this is not an entire book. This story is a novella and is meant read to be with the rest of the series. You won't learn much from just reading this novella by itself.
Wanda Brunstetter has a simple writing style that I enjoy.
This story shows that if we trust God with our lives he will take care of us.

The faith Meredith and her family along with Luke's family when they are informed Luke did not survive the bus crash. Faith in God will see individuals through each trial and Wanda has definitely illustrated this. I cannot wait to read rest of the series.

Her stories were the first books I had read about the Amish. I have never been dissappointed. I loved The Silence of Winter & can't wait for The Hope of Spring. The stories are short and would be good all together but it's interesting & leaves you wanting to read the next book to see how it turns out!
