Next to the Bible and the Power of the Spirit (William Law) this book by A.W. Tozer has also had a profound affect on my Christian walk. It stirred me to seek the "deeper" things of God and The Power of the Spirit showed me how to attain them through understanding of the "indwelling Spirit of Christ". Your Bible and these two books will provide you with "knowing God" more than all the theological writings from a thousand scholars that are filled with "head knowledge" but do not have Christ in their hearts and experience Him there. After almost thirty years of striving to do and studying to now I can now feel free "resting"in HIm. I wish I would have known this thirty years ago.
Tozer writes from the heart about things of the Spirit of God. There is too little on the subject. In some aspects, he misses the mark on how the Holy Spirit operates, being influenced by his theological training. Most of his book is well-based on sound observation from his life experience in an area that is most important for the disciple. This book is a crucial addition to the library of any serious student of God. I strongly recommend it to everyone.
This is an excellent book that I highly recommend. Somewhat like Andrew Murray's Humility, the language is a bit archaic, but once you become familiar with the different sound, and dig into the content, it is vital and relevant. Chapter 3 is a favorite!
