I begin each year with the Daniel Fast. I have always been interested in resources to continue a similar lifestyle of healthy behaviors (with a Christian focus) and found The Daniel Plan resource to be extremely valuable follow-up resource.
I like the fact that this book talks about faith and being physically healthy. Too often, as a Christian, we focus so much on the spirituality and we forget that our bodies need attention, too. And that God wants us to be healthy so that we are physically able to do His will. After all, we know from the Bible that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy by thief, we mean the devil but Jesus comes so we can have life in abundance (John 10:10). When our bodies do not function as it was created to function, then we are allowing the devil to steal our physical health.
Reading this book was a revelation to me particularly in the fact that we ask God for healing when we get sick but have we done enough to take care of the bodies He has given us?
This book is not just about eating well (food) and exercising regularly (fitness) two of the things we know very well to keeping physically fit but this book also talks about the very purpose why we need to be physically fit (faith) and overcoming negative and self-depreciating thoughts (focus) and how a little help from a friend (friend) can go a long way.
Truth to tell, everything that we do to lose weight or maintain our fitness will just be based on our willpower and without Gods help, itll be a bit harder especially for one like me who is not easily motivated to eat healthy and exercise regularly.
And mind you, everything that is in the book is practical and doable. I recommend that you read this book if one of youre goals for 2015 is to get physically fit but dont know how to start. Not only that, you may also hop over to their website to understand what this plan is about and to check on the five essential elements that are enumerated in the book.
We're NOT physically perfect, our organs work in different ways, some people are easier to gain weight than others, but, being overweight limits God to use this people? Of course NOT! Now, can you tell me if you're going to sell this book to the missionaries, hiding in caves, sometimes with not food to eat, facing danger in every moment of their lives, do you think being healthy is more important for them than the Gospel? You can help the authors to make a lot of money with this book but definitely it will not get you closer to God.
This book is total disappointment. It is very short and not much useful information for starting a diet plan for GOD. This book talks about how GOD has made our body as his temple to use for his purpose and has scripture to back up and that is about all. It does include recipes and a 40 day diet plan that is very complicated and not very friendly. The products are very hard to find in the grocery store and I don't see how anyone would be able to stay on this diet as a life time change.
I would not recommend this book to anyone, don't waste your time or money.
