Are you ever feeling stressful, depressed, or just not yourself! This book is all about treasuring God above all else!

We need to choose joy in all things we do, and keep God first and find an attitude of gratitude! A true remedy to stress is prayer! To find joy in the Lord, we must yield to His presence. Psalm 86:4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

Think of three things you are thankful for: These are my 3 for today! 1: God 2: husband who takes care of us! 3: 6 children and 7 grandchildren!

It seems like we can at least find 3 things to be thankful for! So lets live in gratitude or thankfulness!

How about making a journal and filling it with things you are thankful for!! Its kind of hard to be stressed and without joy when your writing out every day something you have to be thankful for, lets start out with 3 things everyday we are thankful for and go from there, and if you really cant find anything that day then write down 3 of your biggest problems and then thank God for them!!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review! I would suggest reading this book if you feel stressed, are depressed or just feeling out of sorts!

Linda Evans Shepherd in her new book, The Stress Cure published by Revell teaches us Praying Your Way to Personal Peace.

From the Back Cover: We live in a world filled to the brim with advice, and when it comes to dealing with stress, theres plenty of advice to go around. Sleep more, eat better, avoid this, seek out that. But more ideas about how to cope are not necessarily what we need if were stressed and anxious.

What we need is a cure. The true remedy to stress, Linda Evans Shepherd says, is prayer. In this inspiring book, she shows you how to recognize Gods continual presence in your life and yield your troubles to the Prince of Peace. Through captivating stories, explorations of fascinating biblical characters, and examples of deeper-than-ever prayers, she brings within your grasp the peace that passes understanding. If you are overwhelmed by all of the urgent demands on your time, this book offers you a lifeline to true peace.

Linda Evans Shepherd knows that all of us have to deal with stress. How do we deal with this? Stress left unchecked can do irreparable damage and eventually will kill us. Is the answer cut back on what we schedule? Eat better? Exercise? Sleep better? While all these things are good for us and we should implement them the real answer is prayer. What we need is peace and since Jesus is the Prince of Peace the way we find peace is to talk to him about what is going on in our lives. In The Stress Cure Ms. Shepherd gives us twelve chapters on the things that stress us the most. Each chapter ends with a yielding prayer that gets us focused off that particular problem and onto God. This is a book that you will refer back to again and again. A great resource!

Although this helpful book was written several years ago, I just got the opportunity to read it. The timing is excellent as I am facing a situation with which I have never dealt before. Although I can rest in the comfort that God is in control, the book offers wonderful words of comfort and numerous prayers tailor-made for the various aspects of stress: feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck, burdened, offended, frustrated, and others. I appreciated the way the author shared stories from the Bible, written from a first-person perspective to bring out the truth and applicability of the Bible to things we deal with today. The message of the book is that God knows and understands all situations and circumstances we find ourselves in and He is waiting to give us peace over the stresses of life. We need to turn to Him in prayer. I encourage you to read the book whether you have much stress or little in your life. All humans deal with stress at one time or another. Maybe you will find help for a current situation, or possibly the book will help you be better prepared for when you encounter greater stress.

We all experience stress at times. Perhaps you are one of the 39% of Americans who said their stress increased last year. How are you doing managing your stress?

Shepherd first defines stress so we know what we are dealing with. She reminds us that stress affects our spiritual well-being as well as physical and psychological.

The Holy Spirit is in us and we are to use the tools He provides, prayer and God's Word. Only the Holy Spirit can give us the supernatural peace of Christ.

Shepherd writes about feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, burdened, hopeless, offense, anxiety, negative, distracted, and depressed. Prayer begins the process and she provides many of them within each chapter. At the end of each chapter are prayers of yielding, forgiveness, healing, and exchange. She presents Scripture and encourages us to write down our thoughts and impressions.

An unusual feature in her book is the retelling of Bible stories through her own imagination. They are an encouragement to readers, realizing that those in the Bible experienced stress and found peace.

Here is just one of the many prayers in this book:

    Dear Lord,

I invite you into my circumstances. Even when my way is filled with pain, I choose to trust in you. I choose joy. Trouble will give me the chance to grow and to endure, and even when I struggle, you are with me. You are my life preserver. In you I trust. Give me your strength to live in joy no matter what.

    In Jesus's name, amen.

Shepherd encourages us to invite God into every area of our life. It will take time and practice, she writes, to develop the skill of yielding to the peace of God. Reading this book will certainly help you on your way.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
