This is the VERY BEST children's Bible I have ever read... and it's NOT just for children! It is a GREAT Bible for New ADULT Christians... Catholic or not. It is easy to read, and not at all boring. The pictures are conguent with the story (picture on one side of the page; story of the other), which makes for good understanding of the text. No Christian who wishes to evangelize should be without it.

The illustrations in this Bible are breath-taking, from cover to cover. This Bible will appeal to and enlighten a fairly large cross-section of ages. The reason for this is due to the marvelous pictorial selections that are complete stories in themselves, and stimulate the imagination of younger children, while the text is interesting enough, and challenging enough, to maintain the interest of an older child. The construction is also sturdy enough for prolonged use by younger people. I'm glad it was available for my Goddaughter.

I just wanted to say that I first received mine in 1962 from my godmother & godfather not long after I made my First Communion. This was the very first bible I ever had, & I was also sharing it with my sister to read.I was surprised to see these are still available, & I noticed more bible stories have been added than what mine has...a total of 105 stories. My book was probably one of the earlier editions first published; it is regular hardcover (red) & had the paper bookcover over it...same image as your hardcover now.I always enjoyed reading mine too & have had it for 46 years now, since I was 9. I would also recommend it for children's bible study teaching & for adults who need more help understanding bible teachings but have a harder time deciphering "regular adult bibles".By reading mine I was able to retain more information about what happened in the Old & New Testaments. And one could read the whole bible at one time, using this book...it is so easy to do. Thank you so much.(My book in the back part also has photos of Father Lovasik showing key steps to the Mass & explanations for each...per 1960s' time.)

I've been teaching for 11 years in a Catholic Homeschool, Catholic Daycare, and Catholic Faith Formation settings. There is no other book that I use as consistently as this. It is the base on which I start most discussions. I've used it over and over, and have given away many copies. It can be adapted to any grade. After reading the book through once to children, you'll internalize the "easy to tell" history. Since then, I rarely read the stories out loud--The kids of any grade sit rapt at the wonderful pictures while I recount page by page in my own words. With every new group I start with the first three stories--next day, a quick review of those three then three more, and so on until each story is down to one line that the kids yell out as I turn quickly through the review pages. Each time I add a new detail or two to the review. By the end of the book, they have reviewed the same stories so many times, they can't help but know them by heart. The full out details come later--but the book gives them a Cliff-notes type memorized timeline of the old and new testament to build on.
