My son actually enjoys math and has good retention, but he struggles with concept development. These books offer the material in a short, incremental approach that really helps my son understand the material.

My son really confused factors and multiples. His work always reflected that. We started this series with Book 2, and he has had several 'aha!' moments. He finally understood the purpose of factoring. That was a huge win.

The practice is more than adequate for retention for most students, but it doesn't seem like overkill. My kid dislikes what he considers work without a legitimate purpose, and he hasn't complained about this math series yet.

He has had trouble with geometry, too, and he asked me to order the geometry series. Yay!

We have so enjoyed these little workbooks from Key Curriculum Press. They are printed in simple two-color, which I'm sure keeps the price low. They are completely useable as an independent learning tool. In other words, your student should be able to complete them without adult help. The instructions are simple and clear. They start out very simple and slowly build, becoming more difficult. By the end of the of the books your student is doing fairly advanced math and realizes that the concepts are understandable and it wasn't all that difficult to get there!

My daughter needs visual aids to help her really get the concepts in math. Key to Series really meets that need. Both of my children love and do very well with this series. No tears, no frustration, I let them choose the pace. To use with more than one student, I place these workbooks inside a clear dry erase pocket and we can use them over again if we need to review. This series is one of my best home school purchases for sure! We have all of them except the geometry and metric system. Paper is thin, so please be careful.

My third grader really enjoyed book one of this series! She does not love math, but these presented in a very simple format and she had no trouble grasping new concepts!

These books are great, I truly like the manner they explain and the method they take to get to the more complex thought processes! Using for my 8th grader and 5th grader as supplement, but they could easily be stand alone (and they are small and compact and expensives, can't beat all of those attributes!) Highly recommend for those older grade levels having issues with the Fractions/Decimals gaps!
