    Didache Bible is the best

When one is reading patristics, one wants a bible that is readable and accurate. The RSV Didache is actually the Catholic edition, but the changes bring it more into line with the scriptures as the Fathers received them. Yes, I know for some it is hard to believe that God did not write the King James Bible. But, this keeps the best features of the King James in modern English, with some of the more egregious errors, stemming from Reformation polemics, removed, such as the angelic salutation in Luke. Nor does this suffer from the inclusive language problem of the NRSV.

A good bonded leather cover, strong spine, a readable font size and font, gilded edges and ribbon make this aesthetically desirable. Perfect study notes that are not one sided to historical criticism make this easy to use. It is a good bible to use with the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture and Ancient Christian Texts series of Thomas Oden.

Between my husband and myself we have almost every Bible available----and this one is DEFINITELY the best! The study comments are really well done, there are more color maps than I have ever seen in any other Bible, there is a glossary and best of all there are pages throughout the Bible on Catholic apologetics---why do we have infant baptism, what is a sacrament? Those topics are all indexed in the back of the Bible for easy access. The notes and apologetics are all cross referenced with the numbers for those topics in the Catechism of the Catholic Church for further reading and study. This is the only Bible we recommend when we are asked. Everyone we show it to buys it and loves it.

The Didache leather hardcover is my favorite bible by a wide margin. The translation and notes are top notch, the text is large enough and easy to read, and the size is perfect. Once you get this Bible in your hands it becomes aparent why this costs more than average. The Bible is printed in the United States on excellent bible paper. The paper is very white, opposite text show-through is minimal, and it is a little heavier than most bible paper. When turning the page my finger always lifts one page, none of my other bibles have paper like this.

I normally prefer a soft flexible cover, but the leather enclosed hard cover handles just right. The binding is nice and tight.

I am happy with my purchase of the RSV Didache bible with notations from the early fathers and Catholic catheshism. Hardcover and binding are exceptional. This is one of the best bibles I have in my library.
