This small book has a great goal: to keep you focused on Christ during Advent. Those days leading up to Christmas have become hectic, filled with shopping, cooking, and preparations to celebrate. But what are we celebrating?

Here, John Piper provides short devotional readings, from December1 through Christmas Day, to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of Christ was not an isolated event. It was the turning point of history. It was the beginning of a new day. For the believer, it was the beginning of an indestructible joy.

The reader will no doubt find hope, peace, and joy in these pages, as we are led to focus on the work of Christ. The final section of the book is a short sermon on Christmas. Short, yet powerful.

I highly recommend this Advent devotional.

This little book was really a blessing. The excerpts are short, but full. They really sink into the heart and remind you of the beauty and magnificence of the arrival of our Savior. I even chose an excerpt to read aloud at our family Christmas dinner. I could hardly choke out the words through the tears. That is just how touching I found this book to be.

I am absolutely thrilled with the daily readings in this thin but powerful book. Author John Piper reminds Christians of the "fullness of grace" who descended from heaven to live as a man and die for our sins. Each reading has a scripture reference which is then explained in the author's powerful way in two short pages. This book is a welcome addition to my library.

Purchased and read during advent. Elevated my worship and expectation of Christ's coming one-hundred fold! Piper examines so many facets of how Christ's birth brings indestructable joy. I'm finding in light of these truths I just cannot keep it to myself!

The Dawning of Indestructible Joy by John Piper is such quiet, powerful truth delivered in a way that humbles the reader. It is an amazing advent devotional that you will want to reflect on over and over. This book was intended for the Advent Season but I find that the truths here are truths for all through the year. You cannot reflect too often on what Christ has accomplished by coming to earth and dying for the sins of the world.
