PastorWisconsinAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Face Your FearsApril 16, 2014PastorWisconsinAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Critical Condition - eBook.I just finished Richard Mabry's new book, "Critical Condition". I have come to expect intrigue, mystery, a good story line, action, suspense, and of corse romance (for the ladies, insert smile) from this author. He did not disappoint.
Shannon witnesses her fiancé shot and killed right at her side. He whispers, "Help me," just before he dies. Shannon wants to be a doctor so she can save lives. But someone else is shot outside her home. He whispers his last words, only they are not words but numbers? What do they mean. Shannon and her sister's life, Megan, may depend on them figuring it out. Shannon's boyfriend, Mark is the only person they can trust a long with their lawyer. They don't even know if they can trust the police.
Megan's boyfriend is also shot and killed. The smoking gun leads to Shannon and Megan because their finger prints are on it. Eventually, Megan becomes the chief suspect.
Meanwhile each girl has their personal and inner struggles. Shannon struggles with her faith and relationship to God even though her dad is a pastor. She also has panic attacks when she has to perform surgery on a gun shot victim. Any other time blood does not bother her. She will be faced with the ultimate challenge when someone close to her is again shot.
The ending is fast paced and takes you on a thrill ride.
I highly recommend "Critical Condtion" for an enjoyable read.

Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Murder Kills Relationships For A Long TimeApril 14, 2014Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Dr. Mabry has added another well-written book to my library.
Shannon Frasier is "almost engaged" - she just has not said "yes" yet. Her suiter appears to be willing to wait, but for how long? She had through it before - an engagement that is. It was terminated when her fiance had been shot in front of her during medical school and she could do nothing to save him. And now it was happening again.
But before that could happen, there was another murder - and detective Steve Alston becomes infatuated with Shannon even as she and her sister were suspects in this most recent case of murder.
It would take some clever work on the part of Steve and his partner, Jesse Callaway, working with Shannon and her sister, Megan, to get to the bottom of this murder and a number of others.
The author's faith comes out throughout the book - in the lives and events which make this book so readable. To the reader looking for a medical mystery that will hold his or her attention, from beginning to end, Critical Condition may be just the book that is needed.

LauraLouisianaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fast paced thriller!April 8, 2014LauraLouisianaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In "Critical Condition" by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. we meet Dr. Shannon Frasier. The book opens to a dinner party at her house with friends. Everything seems to be going fine until they hear gunshots. When a stranger dies on her front lawn it brings back old memories Shannon wished to keep locked inside. Ten years prior she lost her boyfriend to a drive by shooting. The most recent murder also brings new problems to her life especially when her sister shows up and seems to have a connection to the man who was murdered. The police seem to focus on Shannon and her sister as there two primary suspects when other details unravel. Shannon also has to deal with the feelings she has for her current boyfriend. He is ready for a commitment but she is too scared to offer that. The two draw closer and Shannon starts to have a relationship with God again but will it be too late?
This was an amazing book that you will not be able to put down. It is a fast paced thriller that will keep you pulled in and turning the pages and wondering what will happen next. In this book we see how we all must turn everything over to God and realize that we are not God. He is the one in power but if we turn to Him and trust in Him He will give us the strength to do what we did not think we could do and to move forward in our lives. I received a complimentary copy of this book to review from BookLook. -
Josh PhelpsBerea, KyAge: 35-44Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Critical Condition - A good read!March 7, 2016Josh PhelpsBerea, KyAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Critical Condition - eBook.I love medical mysteries! So when Critical Condition by Richard l. Mabry M.D. came available I took a chance. I had never read anything by this author before and I have to say, it was an awesome book.
From the book description you see that Shannon has a lot going on in her life. She has someone killed in her front yard, a boyfriend she cant commit too and a sister who is trying to get sober. So who was the man that was shot in her front yard? Can her sister stay sober? Will she finally commit to her almost-fianc?
There are twists and turns throughout the book that will keep your attention. I read through this book pretty fast and for the most part it kept my attention. Some off the characters seemed a little flat, but not enough for me to put the book down. The ending wasnt what I thought when I got to it, but it did seem a little but rushed. However, If you like medical mysteries then you will most likely like this book. I am looking forward to reading another work by Mr. Mabry, M.D.
