Jerry3 Stars Out Of 5January 27, 2014JerryMacArthur makes many valid points...HOWEVER, he also displays a total ignorance and misunderstanding in many things he says. If I follow him word for word, many of my non-charismatic friends, who are followers of MacArthur would now be considered suspect as trustworthy. It is impossible for MacAuthur to have heard from God on anything he has printed...for basically, he says 'we know longer hear from God by inspiritation etc.' Again, I do agree with him exposing error...but I must also say, he has exposed himself as being in error as well.
My biggest issue is his use of the word: 'all charismatics'...if there is one problem child in his fellowship...then all members of his fellowship should be labeled as 'problem children and unreliable as well.' -
Roy Ingle3 Stars Out Of 5August 29, 2000Roy IngleThis book is good information to read. I am a Pentecostal pastor and found that MacArthur does a good job of presenting the false teachings of the Word-Faith movement but I do not agree with him putting all charismatics in the same camp. I am a classical Pentecoastal, Assemblies of God pastor yet I cannot associate with false teachers and heretics such as Copeland, Hagin, Price, or Hinn.

Glen Allen Smith1 Stars Out Of 5November 20, 2000Glen Allen SmithI am a Word Faith Charismatic, and I recommend this book to other word faith charismatics because, it is good for us to consider the critism of our fellow brethern. However, I must point out that this book presents a most incorrect picture of some word faith ministers. Dare I ask this question, should I take John MacArthur's interpretation, and hyper calvinism as solid biblical proof of heresy? As I read this book, I see much is taken out of context, and Rev. MacArthur takes the liberty of interpreting the intention of an entire "movement" by out of context interpretations. In essesence, we Charismatics need to evaluate our "extremes" and our non Charismatic brethern, need to evaluate their own hearts and intentions. I am also cautious of how quickly, non Charismatics, are to "jump on the band wagon" because Rev. MacArthur critisizes some folks. As for proving ministers to be heretics, I have yet to see SOLID proof, and this book is a prime example of one finger pointing at others, while three are pointing back! Critism, isn't reproof. Critism is rooted in the flesh, while reproof is root in the spirit of love. That is my reveiw.
