Publisher's Description

Because He is all-powerful, God can do all things. However, God most certainly does not do all things. In truth, there are some things that He will not do indeed cannot do because He has promised not to do them. This text examines 20 promises from God s Holy Word and the implications of those promises. For example, God has promised never to withhold forgiveness when we ask for it. And He has promised not to allow us to experience greater temptation than we can endure. These and other Bible truths are examined in this inspirational text. 20 Things God Can t Do is a thought-provoking addition to the highly popular Freeman-Smith catalogue.

If you add "By the Spirit" these chapters are all certainly true and the quotes in the book are helpful. There are 100 verses in the back that help someone to find some good things from the scripture. In them the "Fruit of the Spirit" is mentioned as is that He is our "Helper". But all of the Christian life is lived "by the Spirit". So we read in Gal. 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh." He gives many warnings against the flesh but fails to mention that the means to all spiritual success for Christians is always by the Spirit and by asking for His power. For example to forgive someone difficult to forgive is accomplished by asking God for the strength by His Spirit to do so, not just by sucking it up and doing it by force of will. When our thoughts drift from God the way to Spiritual abundance is to ask God to draw near and help us and without that directive this book could read as if we do these things in our own strength. I have given it to new believers when I have already told them what Bill Bright wrote, "Your walk with Christ depends on what you allow Him to do in and through you empowered by the Holy Spirit, not what you do through your own self effort." The Christian life is lived "inside out", first we ask God to transform us on the inside then we become transformed people who look like it increasingly on the outside. But we are to become like children and always be asking God for help by His Spirit to do the things the scripture exhorts us to do in this book. Sadly the Author never really emphasizes the power of the Holy Spirit to live the Christian life.

I bought this book for my daughter, and she loves it. It was so funny to see her face when I gave it to her. She laughed once she started reading it, but I was proud of her thought process at first glance. lol...
