Nancy AnnCaliforniaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Addition to the Exploring Creation SeriesDecember 17, 2010Nancy AnnCaliforniaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I must first say that this journal is not essential. If money is an issue and it would be a stretch for your homeschooling budget than do not feel like your missing something or that the Exploring Creation text will not be enough. The Exploring Creation series are a wonderful set of science books for homeschoolers even without this journal. However, the journal does make things easier. I would not recommend them for younger children. My son is a third grader and I think that is a good age to start with these. I do not think my son would have been able to use these at the K-2nd grade level. His writing and comprehension were just not developed enough. I find these journals to be helpful for those who really believe in the benefit of oral and written narrations. It makes it so much easier to just read from the text and open up this journal and have your child write in it. The journal gives interesting ways of writing so it's not the same everyday. It also helps to encourage talking about what is read. For some reason I had a very hard time with doing oral and written narrations on my own.

Carrie5 Stars Out Of 5Great Companion to the TextAugust 31, 2017CarrieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is our second Apologia science text. We started with Zoology 1, and loved it so much that we wanted to continue the series. This notebooking journal is great to have open while I'm reading to my kids. They can write down fascinating facts as we read them, color some of the pages to keep them from fidgeting, and my 9-year old loves the crossword puzzles. Sometimes we do the copywork, and sometimes we don't. It depends on how much copywork we've had in other subjects that day. I highly recommend this journal to go along with the text. As far as ages go, I still have my 3rd grader use the junior note booking journal. She's a very young 3rd grader (July birthday), and the junior journal works much better for her.

Julie5 Stars Out Of 5Great complement to the textbook!June 21, 2016JulieQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4The notebook is a complement to the textbook , it is where the students learning is shown. I like the pictures and different ways that it is organized. It also has a bible verse per each lesson.
