Overall, we have been pleased with Ms. Bauer's logical approach to writing instruction. Our child has transformed from being a reluctant writer into a confident writer. Based on our childs experience, I would recommend the Writing with Ease curricula for students in Grades 5-8. This curriculum can also be utilized with high school students or adults for remedial learning.

My daughter used this in 4th grade and loved it! Now it's my sons turn. The writing lessons are simple yet help your child understand writing concepts. I will use this with all of my children.

First of all, the book pictured on CBD website is not the book you will receive. My book looks like the picture, but also says, "Optional/Remedial For Older Students." Ouch. My child is in 4th grade and this book is level 4. The description by CBD says it's, "For grades 4 & 5". Yet, my intelligent 4th grader wants to know why he needs remedial. We did Book 2 skipped a year and I thought we'd try it again. The excerpts from Book 2 were engaging and interesting. I cannot say the same for this book. It starts rather innocuously with The Emperor's New Clothes , but the " A Little History of the World" skyrockets into over a 10 year olds head immediately. The majority of the books are well over 50 years old. I have no problem with that, but the fact that many of them use a more antiquated word order is tough for kids when doing dictation. (I noticed this in Book2 also.) There are better resources out there.
