At the time, I was preparing a devotional about her, and I found this book to be very helpful.

Teresa ElliottChicagoland5 Stars Out Of 5wounded by Gods peopleOctober 23, 2014Teresa ElliottChicagolandQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I really enjoyed this book. As a pastors wife, I too have been wounded by church people. Her incorporation of Hagar's story added to the points that were being made. Well worth your time to read this wonderful book!

Mrs. Lotz is showing me a side to the Hagar story I've never seen. I like that she is so honest about her own hurts....both those received and given.

JanetDallas, TXAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5An Important ReadSeptember 13, 2013JanetDallas, TXAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Anne G. Lotz has written an important message for our church culture today. I am a pastor's wife, involved in full time ministry, and I wish everyone I know would invest their time in reading Wounded by God's People. Churches keep trying to change music styles, programming and preachers thinking that one or the other will bring about church growth. I wish every church would hold a class to discuss what Anne has so perfectly said in this book. The early church grew because they had great love for the Lord and great love for one another. People, especially people who have been hurt by another Christian, are becoming disillusioned with the church and often with Christianity. This book will make you think and will probably make you think twice - about the way you speak to and about your brothers and sisters in the faith. Thank you Anne, for an important book with a profound message.

Mandy Farmer5 Stars Out Of 5For ANYONE who has been BULLIEDApril 19, 2016Mandy FarmerQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0We tend to think that God's servants are above being hurt; 513qnib9ecl-_sx334_bo1204203200_but that is just not true. As a matter of fact, I would venture to say that most ministers of the Word are hurt at least once in their ministry. I so appreciate Anne for being vulnerable and opening up to us about her own life while she teaches us through the life of Hagar on how to deal with hurt.
I had not ever taken much thought to Hagar and her son but God did. It is in the story of Hagar, that we find the name for God, El Roi, The God Who Sees Me. He cares so much about each one of us and the plight we are in AND he is watching over us.
What I learned was the God Who Sees Me cares deeply for His own. He sees each and every one of us. He loves us so much. He has a plan for us but He also allows us to make our own decisions. So He waits for us to call out to Him to rescue Him.
Studying the plight of Hagar has helped me face my own situation. It has taught me to look at where I may have failed. IT has warned me to not be a wounder myself. It has taught me to forgive regardless of what the other party may do towards repentance and reconciliation.
This book would help anyone who has been hurt not only by the church, but by anyone. In this age where we seem to think everyone is bullying everyone else. I think we need to start looking at how Jesus handled those who bullied Him. "Forgive them, for they know not what they do."
If you have ever been hurt by someone, read this book.
