    Worship Walk

    By: Gareth J Goossen

I really enjoyed this book. Worship! Wow how are we worshipping the Lord in each day of our lives. I love to close my eyes during the worships service and meditate on the words being sung. We can get so caught up in just saying words and not really getting the message out of a song. I think we want immediate answers as Gareth quoted in here God's words " Be Still Know I am God" we all want everything right now. God say wait let me handle this I will decide if you need this or not. I love the way scripture is in the book to back up what is being said. Just everyday stories are awesome in how it puts itt out for us to learn from. I would highly recommend this book.

I was given this book by TBCN for my honest review.

Worship Walk by Gareth Goossen is one wonderful book. Reading through each chapter felt like entering into a chapel where you could sit and encounter the love of Jesus reflecting on you from the worship experiences described. I especially found the sprinkling of modern day miracles within the pages to be encouraging and an antidote to the toxicity of those who downplay the works of God in current times.

This book contains a lot of good news I have never heard about in the media, and that is not just because I am in the USA and Gareth Goossen is in Canada. He has news all Christians and nonbelievers need to hear to boost our knowledge of how great our God is. This book enlarges the concept of worship so it no longer fits into the neat little time frame of Sunday mornings, 11:00 a.m. until Noon.

Gareth Goossen and his family have been radically dependent upon God. They have been open to His leading and have seen blessings of provision that can only be found through going beyond the compromising typical North American lifestyles. The description of sacrifice is not given to in anyway give glory to Goossen and his family but only to give glory to God as another form of worship is presented. God is shown to be supernatural and beyond our comprehension in His goodness and the way He shows His love for people.

Worship Walk is a book for all who follow Jesus and want to be more intentional in their expressions of worship. The book would be a welcome gift for worship leaders and those who help them. Worship leaders may feel challenged to present to congregants ways they can worship not only more effectively during the Sunday service but also at home and anywhere they may be.

Thanks to Bookfun.org for providing this book to me in exchange for posting my honest opinion and review.

Worship Walk is about living your life as worship to God. From the beginning it is evident the Gareth Goossen has put a lot of work and research into making sure everything he says is accurate and tries to explain it in a way that anyone can understand. He pointed out many things that are worship to God that had never occurred to me. I didn't view them as worship until reading this book. He also has practical ways of incorporating them into your life listed at the end of each chapter.

While Mr. Goossen is obviously well versed in worship and it's many forms, he doesn't come off as "holier than thou," just as a regular person who is trying his best to live a life of worship to God and still making mistakes along the way. I loved that! I also really enjoyed the way the book is written. It has a conversational tone to it. It's almost like you're sitting down with him, just talking over coffee (or in my case, tea).

Probably my favorite part of all is how he constantly points to God. He reminds us again and again that we can do nothing apart from God. You want to change your life? Great! But you'll need God to do it. This book isn't a list of "do this" and "don't do that" instructions. It's meant to show you what worship can look like in your everyday life, what it means to be fully in love with the King of kings, and how that translates into changing your world.

This is a book I'm sure I'll read again, and possibly again. There's just no way to absorb all the information included in each chapter without taking the time to study it and look up the Bible verses, and various resources he lists.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to deepen their relationship with their Creator and who wants to learn to live a life of worship.

I received this book through The Book Club Network for my honest opinion, which I have given.

What comes to mind when you think of worship? That hour on Sunday morning? Is it the music over which we've had "worship wars"?

True worship goes much beyond that. Goossen argues that our worship should be our entire life. He invites us to a walk of worship. True worshipers make every effort to engage with Jesus at all times and everywhere.

He reminds us of the cost of worship — totally focusing on God, and the sacrifice of worship — always placing Jesus at the center.

He explores all the ways we worship God in the broader context of life: silence, asking, listening to the Holy Spirit, confession, proclaiming, recognizing God's image in creation, prayer, humility, gratitude, extravagance, using spiritual gifts, and suffering. He gives practical suggestions on how to do each aspect of worship too.

He suggests a daily prayer: "Lord, in my worship of you today in whatever I am doing, help me to allow you to shape me in your image so that I might be an extension of your presence and an encouragement to one other person." (85)

There is so much in this book that strikes at the heart of the Christian. We were made to worship God. Reading this book certainly helped me understand what that means. If you desire to experience worship as a lifestyle, this is the book for you.

I'll leave you with this question Goossen asks, "Is God our goal? Is the essence of our lives and our lifestyles designed to be, like Paul encourages, so that we may 'know' Christ better?" (157) Does worship encompass all of your life?

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the author for the purpose of this review.

Worship Walk: Where Worship and Life Intersect

    BY: Gareth J. Goossen

This a revised edition of the 2004 book of the same name. This book is a kind of how to guide for us to put our daily life's in sync with our worship of God. Our worship services should not be about entertainment. The music in a service should not be the reason we come to church. Goossen shows us that worship is a longing to know and love God all the time not just on Sunday. He gives us practical steps to reach this goal. This is his walking it out portion of the book. This is a book for those of us who want to get more out of our worship of God than just entertaining music. I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.
