I decided to add to my home school curriculum with Wordly Wise. It goes over 10 words a lesson. It has definitions and we look to see if they are nouns, verbs, etc. It includes a story with each lesson that they learn comprehension not only of that the words meant but the story too. I would buy more as she gets older.

This is a great book for my third graders to learn their vocabulary. There are various methods in each lesson for learning the definitions of the words. At the end of each lesson is a story which includes the vocab words and questions pertaining to the story. This provides us the opportunity to practice comprehension, retell, and write complete sentences.

I have two boys that have struggled in language arts for years. This curriculum is fantastic. It keeps the kids engaged, they are learning, and retaining what they are learning. I would suggest that you purchase the 4th edition as the lessons are already in Quizlet which gives them more option to learn.

Love this book and series. Teaches vocabulary easily and thoroughly. The kids love it too.
