    While Love Stirs

    By: Lorna Seilstad

While Love Stirs is the second in the series The Gregory Sisters. Now that Charlotte has graduated from Fannie Farmer's School of Cookery she is ready to venture out into the world. She really enjoys the travels and giving lectures. Even on the newest invention the gas stove. Love stirs in this novel but not just in the cooking department. I see two fellows in the pot Lewis Mathis a singer to entertain and Dr. Joel Brooks. There is going to battles between Charlotte and the doctor of meals being nutritional for patients. The fire is gonna heat up in this disagreement. If you like romance you will love this story its a good historical romance novel. Characters are well written. Thinking back in this time what Charlotte is doing is not for ladies. Well we shall see. Great story.

    While Love Stirs

    The Gregory Sisters, Book 2

    By Lorna Seilstad

While Love Stirs is the second book in the Gregory Sisters series and it is just as entertaining as the first book When Love Calls. First off Charlotte has graduated from the Fannie Farmer's School of Cookery and she is determined to use her newly acquired skills to change the world -- if only the world would cooperate.

First up get a job at a well-known kitchen as a chef's assistant. But all the kitchens are run by male chefs, who are of the opinion the only kitchen a woman belongs in is the one procured for her by her husband!

Then the food found on the hospital trays is an absolute travesty. And after seeing what Hannah is served after her daughter is born, Charlotte finds another reason to champion food for the ill and convalescent. But Dr. Joel Brooks may be a bit of a problem when it comes to dietary reform. And an even bigger problem for her heart if she's not careful.

While this is Charlotte's story, Tessa manages to get herself into a bit of a situation when she gets a job at a theater. Tessa's a typical youngest sister with her teasing of Charlotte about her potential suitors. And Hannah is a support as Charlotte tries to determine where her heart is leading her.

I really love the Gregory sisters and can't wait to see what comes next. This is a feel good book and it is a great way to give yourself a boost when you've had a hard day. The importance of family is shown in this book. Another important focus of While Love Stirs is trust and Charlotte and Joel both have problems with trust that only love can overcome.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher Revell in exchange for my honest review.

While Love Stirs, the latest from Lorna Seilstad cooks up some little known history about Fannie Farmer. Our story unfolds in Saint Paul, Minnesota with our heroine, Charlotte Gregory is about to apply for a position in the kitchen of the Million-Dollar Hotel. She is a recent graduate of Miss Farmer's School of Cookery and can't wait to meet the chef, who no doubt will hire her on the spot. It is 1910, an era where special decorum was observed by young ladies entering hotels unescorted! When she finally has the chance to enter the kitchen, she is shocked by the unsanitary conditions and even more appalled at the arrogance of the chef who will, under no circumstance, have a woman working in his kitchen! After a ruckus, she is tossed out and runs into a handsome young man with bottle green eyes....

She is soon causing a stir when she visits her sister at the hospital....and as fate often has it, Charlotte encounters this young man again, as the doctor who delivered her niece. Hannah is eating a thin broth that barely has any nutrition for a young woman convalescing childbirth. On a mission to ensure patients are fed nutritious meals, she butts heads with Dr. Joel Brooks, who won't budge on menu plans. He is a controlling personality who seems to be set in his ways for someone so young.

Determined to find a job using her education, she enters a contest using the latest kitchen innovation, the gas range. She lands a job traveling around Minnesota by train, demonstrating how this marvelous stove can revolution the lives of the average housewife. She has colorful experiences with her traveling companions; a young singer named Lewis and her chaperone Molly, including being schedule in the midst of a strike against the gas company!

Through it all, she continually runs into Dr. Brooks, a man who she begins to understand is much more than a controlling personality. Just as she begins to understand him, he begins to see that she is more than a woman who surrounds herself with trouble and chaos.

I liked this book because it is a lesson in why we need to take people with more than just what we initially perceive. How often do we just see one side of a story? While Dr. Brooks seems aloof to better nutrition for patients, there is another side to his story that reveals his personality. We may see Charlotte as impatient for change, we learn what motivates her. Can these two stop long enough to see what the other person is truly about? Read While Love Stirs and find out. This second volume in the Gregory Sister's series leaves me ready to search for book one...When Love Calls....coming soon to my library.

Lorna Seilstad in her new book, "While Love Stirs" Book Two in The Gregory Sisters series published by Revell brings us into the life of Charlotte Gregory.

From the Back Cover: Take one lovely young woman. Add two ambitious young men. Stir . . . and stand back.

As a graduate of Fannie Farmer's School of Cookery, Charlotte Gregory is thrilled to have the opportunity to travel, lecture, and give cooking demonstrations on the very latest kitchen revolution—the gas stove. And she certainly doesn't mind that the gas company has hired the kindhearted Lewis Mathis to entertain at her lectures.

Lewis encourages Charlotte's work, especially her crusade to introduce fresh, appetizing, nutritious food to those convalescing in hospitals. But young hospital superintendent Dr. Joel Brooks is not convinced any changes should be made—especially by this outspoken young woman.

When Charlotte and Joel are coerced into planning a fund-raising gala for the hospital, will this combustible pair explode?

Follow the second Gregory sister as she looks for true love and makes her way in a rapidly changing world in this breezy, lighthearted love triangle that will keep you guessing.

Cooking demonstrations, gas stoves and hospital food these are just some of the ingredients that are part of the mix of the second installment of The Gregory Sisters. This time the focus is on Charlotte and if the Food Network had existed in 1910 she would have been one of its premiere cooks. Charlotte also has a dream and that is to bring nutritious food, not only to the masses, but to those convalescing in the hospital. Joel doesn't see the need so there is quite a conflict "While Love Stirs" is a lot of fun. Ms. Seilstad does a wonderful job of transporting us back to a time and place that we will, sadly, never experience again so savor the time spent in these pages. This is an interesting story filled with lots of excitement and romance as well as history. I liked it a lot and I am looking forward to more in this series.

I have read several of Lorna Seilstad's books, and they just keep getting better and better. The title of this book is a real play on word; with the main character a graduate of Fanny Farmer's Cooking School, and that would be Charlotte Gregory, whom we met in When Love Calls. Now don't worry if you haven't read the first book in this series, you can get caught up really quick in this book, but don't deprive yourself of another great book.

With this book we find a young woman trying to make her way in a man's world. She even wants to help at hospitals get patients back on their feet with more nutritious meals. Loved the way she also included flowers, and arrangements to entice their appetites.

We also have a young doctor, who is making his way in taking charge at the local hospital. Somehow the tools he needs in his business, microscopes, are not the priority, and the allotted funds are missing? He has also been burned in the romance area, by a cheating fiancé.

Put these two type A personalities together, and you guessed it, a lot of bickering. There is also another young man in the picture here. Lewis, a sweet talented young man, who has a passion for Charlotte, he seems to be there and anticipates her needs, but can he capture her heart?

You will really chuckle at some of the antics here, I never wanted it to end, and with one more sister in the family, I hope we will have another book.

I received this book through the Revell Book Blogger Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.
