randomambTXAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Family, Food, & Trust in GodAugust 7, 2014randomambTXAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5When I Fall in Love is the 3rd book in Warrens Christiansen Family series. While its the first title in the series that Ive read, I have the first 2 books in my to-read pile! When I Fall in Love is the story of Grace Christiansen, a homebody who fails to see her own potential, and Maxwell Sharpe, a professional hockey player with a heartbreaking secret. Warren also sets the scene for future books in the Christiansen family series by directing interest to Owen & Casper Christiansen and town newcomer Raina.
When I Fall in Love is such a good story. Its optimistic & hopeful, honest, heartbreaking, and all too realistic. Warrens characters are easy to fall for, and I know Ill be coming back for more from the Christiansen family. This title revolves around three things: family, food, and trust in God. Warning: this book will make you hungry and leave you salivating. I only took breaks in reading to watch episodes of Top Chef on my DVR. When I Fall in Love is for fans of family series, Christian romance, and fiction that revolves around food. I highly recommend it!!
Favorite lines:
He could nearly hear the walls crumbling, a gritty, brutal crash that left him weak as she floated off the elevator, turning his world to Technicolor. He hadnt realized hed been living in black and white and muted grays until that moment.

The Happy ReaderColumbia, TNAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent CharactersAugust 2, 2014The Happy ReaderColumbia, TNAge: 35-44Gender: femaleIt's my opinion that Ms. Warren doesn't write nonsense. She writes characters so real that you fall in love with them, you dislike them because they annoy the snot out of you, you cheer for them when they're winning, and you cry when they're crying. You hurt when they hurt, and when you finally come up from the book to do some mundane thing like cook dinner, you find yourself continually thinking of them. And you have to remind yourself that they're not real people. That this was a fictional story. It may have helped you in some way deal with the sins of others or even yourself, it may have helped you realize people are flawed, just like you. It may have helped you come closer to God because He loves flawed people so much that He sent His Son to die for them. And that's what the best books do. They remind you of a broken people and of a loving Savior who will forgive if we just ask.
This is the kind of book you're getting. Not just a whimsical, nonsensical book of random thoughts and happenings, but a fictional story that could have been taken from the lives of a hundred different people.
As always, Ms. Warren's writing was excellent, the timing impeccable, and the characters perfectly flawed. If you weren't supposed to like them, she made sure you wouldn't. If you were supposed to love them and cheer, then you find yourself doing just that. Not because the author told you to, but because they were that delightfully real.
I have read several of Ms. Warren's books, and they just keep getting better. She hasn't let me down yet with tired-out storylines and overused cliches and I look forward to reading more of her work. -
KateAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A wonderful and realistic story that pulls you in.August 2, 2014KateAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've just been introduced to Susan May Warren's books this year and I have to say I have enjoyed the couple I've read immensely. I've been hearing high praise for the Christian Family series, so I was excited when this book came up as a review book.
I've really come to enjoy the family based series. It helps introduce new characters and keep the old ones around for a while. They are able to show the true family dynamic, that no matter how good the family looks on the outside, things are always going on, on the inside. It is fun to read about families in novels that seem to good to be true at times to slip away, but I've really come to enjoy the realistically portrayed ones.
Another winning aspect to When I Fall in Love is the setting! Hello Hawaii! Any book set in that gorgeous group of islands is a fantastic book no matter what. Susan May Warren was able to give you all the beauty of the islands in this story through the character's eyes. And food, so much delicious food is mentioned in this story, I think this was the one story I've read that made me want to snack the whole way through.
I was surprised (in a good way) at the issues that were focused on in this book. They can be difficult issues, but they are ones the people battle every day. It made these characters so much more real watching as they battled these problems. These issues were not candy coated and the emotions that are shown as different aspects popped up had you hoping for the best.
I really enjoyed "traveling" to Hawaii in this book. And I really want to pick up the first two books!

debsMaineAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5When I Fall in Love ~ Susan May WarrenJuly 31, 2014debsMaineAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is book 3 in The Chritiansen Family novel series. I did not read book 1 nor book 2 but I read and loved book 3. This is the story of Grace and Max, both having their own life problems and meet by the grace of GOD. I found this story to be very interesting and when you think you know what is going to happen the author takes you on a twist and turn plot. I loved how this story line had you thinking you knew what was going to happen and then a whole new turn happened and something new starts happening. I could not put this book down because of the twist, it made you want to keep reading because you get so attached to the characters.
I found this book a great, fun and entertaining read. This is not your sappy romance story this book has a plot that could really happen as it is written. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys an easy, fun and non predictable read.
