When I think of Amish cooking, I think of many many steps that I know I wouldn't want to even try to cook like them. But the recipes in the cookbook are short and quick. I found myself constantly marking pages so I can go back and try those recipes at another time. My mouth just waters reading them. All sound so yummy. I'm quite impressed!
In addition to the recipes, their other sections that tell about the Amish during the Christmas time. They include: A Brief History of the Amish and Mennonites, An Amish Christmas, Christmas Program, Christmas Traditions, Christmas Meals, Christmas Gifts, Christmas Music, Christmas Decorations and Cards, Second Christmas, Old Christmas, and Entertaining and Games. I found these sections interesting and fun to read.
I highly recommend this cookbook for any kitchen. I love it!

I'm not a great cook and who better to learn from than some of the world's best cooks, the Amish. The recipes are easy to read and understand, the color pictures amazing, and tips at the bottom of some of the pages, an added bonus. Also there are articles telling how the Amish celebrate Christmas throughout the book. I've already spotted several mouth-watering recipes I want to try, and I'm sure I'll find more as I explore more and more of these recipes. And I can't think of a better Christmas gift to give those ladies on my gift list along with maybe a crocheted potholder.
I was given this cookbook by the publisher and Wanda Brunstetter for my honest review, which I've given.

Wanda Brunstetter has collected many wonderful tried-and-true Christmas recipes from her many Amish friends. She also explains the many Christmas traditions and ways of celebrating the Amish enjoy, including Old Christmas. I think we all should celebrate Old Christmas as well.
Some of the favorite recipes shared include: Gelatin Roll-ups (I did not even know that gelatin could be rolled up....I have to try this one), Honey Mustard Pretzels, Bacon Cheese Muffins, Trash (Christmas Snack)...my family makes this and it is a wonderful gift to share with others, Silly Putty (for gifts)...I made this in my science classroom at school and it really does work!, Hot Chocolate Mix in a Jar, Gumdrops, Ribbon Salad (this one has been mentioned in numerous works of Amish fiction as the young ladies made it to take on picnics with their Amish beau), Trucker Beans (this is one of my family favorites too), Cranberry Chicken, Barbecue Loaded Baked Potato Casserole, Ginger Cookies, Cracked Ice Pudding, and more!
This is a beautiful hard-bound cookbook and would make a delightful gift for others. It includes little tips for the kitchen from Amish friends interspersed throughout the book. I rate this 5 stars.
