I found this story to be disappointing. It was the first Dee Henderson book that I've read. I found the religious aspect to be forced. The author had a large section about charitable giving that I found annoying (large churches are better because they have big numbers regardless of their theology). The decision theology also annoyed me. It was hard to really like the character Charlotte. I wanted her to show more affection to her husband, Bryce. I sometimes had a hard time knowing who was speaking in conversations and had to reread to figure out which character said what.

I was expecting an easy, thrilling read from Dee Henderson, having enjoyed several of her previous books. What I got was a slowly unfolding plot filled with super tedious and uninteresting information about coin collecting and sales through which we had to wade. In addition, the main character, Charlotte, actually came across as a very egotistical, self-centered woman, in spite of all her generosity in giving to charity. (But what is giving millions when you possess billions?) Bryce, her friend and love interest, had to do all the bending in their relationship, which starred Charlotte as a pampered rich girl who should be given whatever she wanted because she endured a horrific kidnapping from age 16-20. Life for everyone had to be all about Charlotte. I didn't like Charlotte at all, and I wanted to like the main character. Bryce was manipulated and led to the slaughter, so to speak. He didn't choose Charlotte; her equally wounded friend chose him for Charlotte.

Not related to the plot, but something I noted: I tired of all the references to extremely unhealthy food choices (always stuff like pizza, nachos, brownies, ice cream, candy bars, etc.) and how eating this way was somehow a virtue.

Henderson had an interesting idea for a plot, but it never got off the ground. This book was a very disappointing read for me.

Unspoken by Dee Henderson is a suspense novel from the author of the O'Malley series. To be honest, I had a really hard time getting into this book. All her other books were written so realistically it has been a shock for me to read her last two books. It doesn't seem like there is a story in there. Just two people deciding if they should love and trust each other. It's like barebones and facts but no real depth to were I feel like I know the characters and genuinely root for them throughout the book. I haven't given up on Dee Henderon, though.... I know there is a great storyteller still in there. :-)

Charlotte Graham has inherited a huge estate from her grandfather. She travels to Chicago where she corners Bryce Bishop, the owner of a high end coin store, to see if he will buy some coins from her. Very valuable coins. The director of the Chicago FBI office calls Bryce to confirm that she is legit and Bryce starts to buy some very profitable coins from Charlotte.

The longer Bryce hangs out with Charlotte the more he wonders about her past. She has never talked about her four year long abduction, and he can see that her faith in God has been wavering. As he helps Charlotte get rid of her inheritance, he also tries to help her faith and trust in God. He becomes interested in her and wants to get to know her better. But then Charlotte tells him about the one condition in her grandfather's will, and Bryce is flabbergasted. Will Charlotte ever trust him enough to marry him and will she ever get closure from her past?

I was expecting more from this book so it was a big disappointment for me. It sounded much more interesting than it really was, but you can always check it out for yourself and see if you agree with me or not. :-)

I was given this book free from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.

    Boring. Not suspensful.

Not sure why it got so many good reviews. This book was Boring. Tons of stuff about buying and selling coins. No real interesting stuff till the last third. Back of book describes a reporter coming into her life, which doesn't even happen til half way thru the book and doesn't really play that big of a role. I had to struggle to get to the end.

I am so glad I borrowed this book. It was so slow moving, not really anything going on until chapters 28-30, the characters were not developed, holes in the story about people. I wasted so much time with a book that could of been written in 15 chapters not 30+. Don't waste your time, go with another book.
