Lysa TerKeurst shares moments of her daily struggles with us, welcoming us to an intimate and warm perspective to the problems that are encountered everyday. She then connects her struggles to those like ours and then addresses these issues using biblical sources, and provides practical solutions to these problems.

Lysa is able to express emotions and problems in an honest and transparent format that engages the audience, and influences change for the better. Even more so, Lysa is able to emphasize the application of biblical truths for our contemporary lives.

However, Lysa only addresses females in regards to this topic of emotions. Though there is no biblical support for the difference of gender in regards to emotions. When the Bible advises us to guard our heart, it does not mention gender.

I have completed the first few days of this journal and can't wait to dive into the upcoming days!

Each day begins with a verse of scripture and an encouragement from the author, Lysa TerKeurst. She then moves on with encouraging words and thoughts for your day.

This is a great devotional to slow you down and turn your eyes to our awesome God. Share your thoughts with Him because as Lysa states on day 3, He is big enough to handle our honest feelings!

    Enjoy this 60 day journey!

Now I'll be honest this book is aimed to help all women however as a mom of two aged 5 and 19 months it appears this book was written JUST FOR ME. I don't know of one mom who can honestly say she's never come unglued. That she hasn't had the one heart wrenching meltdown. That she hasn't had that bathroom cry because you're tired and overwhelmed and in need of some serious "grownup time." I would be lying if I said this has never happened to me. Honestly, this has happens to me probably once a week. I may have a meltdown and yell because I'm irritated. Or I may have to put the kids down for a nap early because I feel overwhelmed and I feel the frustration rising.

(Disclaimer: I received this book, Unglued Devotional, for FREE from the publisher in exchange for my HONEST review. All of the words above are my own opinion.)

Like any good devotional, the concepts are laid out in succinct fashion, providing one great message in very few sentences...just enough to get you thinking and put you in a positive frame of mind for the day. There are scriptural references, practical writings, and personal experiences shared throughout the book that make the words oh so easy to relate to, and easy to read.

The whole idea behind Unglued Devotional is that we are not perfect, and we do not deal with things perfectly, but we can work on making progress with how we think, talk, and react, if we give it a little effort. Even better, it is in written in such a way that makes us want to take the time out to work on being a little nicer, makes us want to act more responsibly with our actions and reactions, and makes us want to strengthen our walk in our faith. It is a book I am happy to own, and one I would recommend highly to others.

Have you ever felt unglued? It's pretty much an occupational hazard of humanity. In fact, it's one human condition I've felt a lot lately. So, when BookSneeze provided me with the opportunity to review Lysa Terkeurst's Unglued Devotional (I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review), I jumped at the chance.

The author begins her book with "A Personal Word for You," a short letter directed at the reader inviting them into the 60 day journey of what is tagged "imperfect progress." Lysa Terkeurst's honesty about her own "imperfect progress" & her own frank struggles is refreshing to my own unglued self.

The paperback book is in traditional devotional form — it starts with scripture, then a "Thought for the Day," an approximately 2 & a half page reading, & then a short prayer... perfect for a daily devotional or quiet time reading. Some of the daily devotional titles include: "I Don't Think You're Wacky," "The Scribbled Truth That Changed My Life," & "Pizza Man Grace." This easy to read, honest (have I mentioned that already=), devotional geared toward women (young & old) is a daily fresh coating of glue, reminding you of God's perfection even in our "imperfection," for when life gets sticky... & don't we know it does!
