Are you familiar with Lysa TerKeurst? She is the President of Proverbs 31 Ministries. I read her other book Made to Crave. I had heard about her new book Unglued but have not read it. Today I'd like to share with you the Unglued Devotional.

    My thoughts:

This book has 60 devotionals that are a 2-3 pages each. They are easy to read in a short amount of time and are extemely relevant for every day life. I like the idea the author presents that we are not going to be perfect but that we can make "imperfect progress." I recommend this book to you. The devotionals here made me think about my own reactions to situations in our home and in relationships. I also enjoyed how each devotional had a "thought for the day." I hope you will check this out and be encouraged as I was.

Thank you to Zondervan for providing this book for my honest review.

Lysa Terkeurst is an author whose books I have read in the past. I am thankful for her new devotional that has come out recently.

Unglued is an easy to read, yet challenging daily devotional that addresses topics such as contentment, control, trust, and keeping the right perspective. These are all things people, especially women, struggle with. She does a great job of reminding us of the truths from God's Word, yet acknowledging the constant pull we feel from the world and the world's systems.

As a mom of four children, three of whom are teenagers, there are many days in which I feel completely overwhelmed. Unglued, if you will. This devotional has helped me in many ways to reexamine how I respond to daily choices as well as the deep valleys of trial and despair.

Again, Mrs. Terkeurst has used her gift of writing to lift up the weary souls of fellow women, moms, wives, sisters and friends.

Lysa TerKaust guides the reader through "60 days of imperfect progress" as she reflects her personal journey towards keeping her emotions in check. Each day's reading starts with a Scripture reading, a thought for the day, the devotion itself, then a closing prayer. It is one of the easiest devotionals I have read. Each day presents one aspect of truth about what is happening behind our emotions. While this book is written for women, men can also stand to gain from considering some of the author's reflections. The reader should be left with the ability to show themselves the same grace and patience shown to them by God.

Overall, I'd say this is a unique devotional filled with honest reflections. It is easy to read and filled with light-hearted moments. While not a deep theological work, it still covers some of the basic theological issues behind our unhealthy emotions. One drawback to the format of the book, though, is that a reader may lose interest before the book gets into "meaty" issues. I think it may have been more effective as a workbook.
