Reality TV that is relateable & says what we can't
April 29, 2014
We havre a small youth group that actaully pulls three other groups together, we have many feelings and thoughts coming in each week. However, the videoes strike a cord with these kids. The "field manual" is a little long, which is a homework journal for the kids, but for those that do it, there is great benefit in the understanding. Though obviously a few years older, it has been a hit with these " church kids". Prep is a little long, but your choice. The material is on target and hits home. Highly recommend!
Our youth group loved this study. It is very easy to do and the games were alot of fun. But most importantly it opened their eyes to what people in other countries have to endure for their faith and it challenged them to build their relationships with Jesus. The videos were engaging, and the teens in the videos were very easy to relate to. I highly recommend this curriculum. Everyone needs some perspective on what the underground church goes through. And Voice of the Martyrs is a wonderful source. Even adults will be challenged by these videos.
These is a good series. It has two members of the group Sonic Flood doing each of the Introductions of the segments. The segments are short, only about 10-15 minutes each. I ended up doing 2 segments a week. I think the series helped
our Teens see how shallow we are in America with our faith.
When you see the devotion that the underground Church has
in Vietnam, it really makes you think about your own devotion.
I purchased this originally to show a small group of youth that meets while their parents meet for another study. After viewing the first episode, I had to watch the entire 3 DVD set at one sitting. I was brought to tears several times, realizing how mediocre my faith is compared to those who are persecuted daily for their faith. My plan now is the lead a whole family study. I am looking forward to what God has to say to me personally and as a group as we seek His will.
