Maria Durishin5 Stars Out Of 5Interesting and insightful bookMarch 23, 2015Maria DurishinI really enjoyed this book because it showed the human and ordinary side of the apostles. The author does a wonderful job of explaining each apostle and their unique personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who wants a more in-depth view of the apostles and their time with Jesus and beyond.
Chris4 Stars Out Of 5They were really ordinary!March 5, 2015ChrisQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4We ordered this book for a noon Bible study at our church because we had already used the author's book TWELVE EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN, and had thoroughly enjoyed it. The author knows his church history and has well researched each of the people about whom he writes. Our group relishes the time we have together studying about these people who were closest to Jesus. We recommend it for group studies who have a leader to promote discussion, as it does not have questions included.
Alan5 Stars Out Of 5An Insight into the ApostlesMarch 2, 2015AlanQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5John uses insights gathered from both scripture and other historical documents to help us paint a picture of each of these rather ordinary men. We begin to see ourselves in each of these everyday men who Jesus chose to use in extraordinary ways. We have used the book for a small group, and everyone has said how they better comprehend those scriptures and it has given real life and personality to each of the disciples. The book makes you slow down and truly contemplate the time and events and how Jesus was able to capitalize on each of these mens strengths and weaknesses.
The book delivered far more than I had expected.
