"Trusting God" is one of those books that can quickly resemble a journal as you underline, write notes in the margin, and fill out the sections to dig deeper into your spiritual trek. Three women share their spiritual journey with you, and use their experiences to broaden your hope in Christ, renew your outlook on the day, and give you topics to reflect on through prayer as you go about your day.

Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland are the women behind the popular online devotions, "Girlfriends in God" and in this book, each of them share the individual lessons they have learned about trusting God in the most difficult times. Rather than make most of the content about their story, as many books do, in each 4-5 page daily reading they spend time highlighting passages in the Bible that they turned to to get through the different ordeals.

Too many books say, ". . . and then I turned to God and felt all better." Authors can easily forget that many readers don't know what it means exactly to turn to God. How do you "surrender it over to God" or "find peace in God"? While the Holy Spirit always steps in when we turn to God, some of us need some logical steps or scriptures to rely on to know how to take these first steps or what to pray. I enjoyed how each of these three co-authors explained how they got from worry to trust.

Each daily reading ends with a prayer that is refreshing and honest, not a quick wrap up of the devotion. I found the prayers to be close to what I would actually pray after reading the content. For those who are weary and overwhelmed by their concerns and needs, having your thoughts expressed so well at the end is a great jumping off point for prayer.

Each week concludes with a section called "Now it's Your Turn." These give the reader the opportunity to find practical ways to apply what she has learned in the last seven days to her own life, outside of just her emotions.

You will read about Gwen participating in a wresting match as a fifth-graders, Sharon as a child who both lost and found a dog name Lassie, and Mary as she grabs for a hot grill to break a fall.

Through my ministry I serve those with chronic illness or pain. "Just trust God with it" is the advice that many well-meaning friends tell those who are going through significant fears and concerns, as well as constant physical pain. Trusting God is easy to talk about, but putting it into place is a small choice we make a million times a day, practicing it until it becomes a habit to trust instead of worry. This 12-week book will help you make that happen.

This is one of those books that you will put on your nightstand to turn to each morning for refreshment, but then, before heading out the door for a doctor's appointment (and likely a long wait) you will run back and grab and stick this book in your purse.

You will laugh out loud while reading this, and sometime bite your lip to hold back a tear, but best of all, you will come to define that phrase "just trust God" in a new way that you can apply to your life starting today.

When it comes to God, we're often like a child who is scared of going off the diving board. We run up to the edge, look down and run back to safety. God challenges us to step off that diving board, not knowing what's underneath. He promises to catch us, but because we can't see Him, we waver. We think about it. We make lists of the pros and cons of doing what He asks. Instead of jumping, we find reasons not to jump.

God wants us to follow after Him with our whole hearts. Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." God wants us to to trust Him -- even though we can't see Him and don't always know where He's taking us.

If you struggle with trusting God, you definitely want to get a copy of this book. Trusting God is a 12-week devotional study that will walk you through what trusting God looks like and how to let go and simply trust Him. Sharing intimate snapshots of their lives as they go Sharon, Gwen and Mary -- you might know them from the Girlfriends in God daily devotional -- take you on a journey of trust.

The book is set up to be used individually or in a group. Each section ends with a Bible study guide and space for journaling to help you get the most out of the book.

Don't miss out on this faith adventure. It will strengthen your relationship with God and teach you to trust Him -- in all things.

"Trusting God" is designed for 12 weeks of personal devotions either alone or with a group of other women. I chose to use it by myself and really enjoyed it. It didn't last me 12 weeks because so many of the sessions were so good I had to read the next one, and the next one... The authors shared from their lives and their hearts and their personal stories helped heal some struggles I was dealing with at this time! Their honesty, their excellent writing skills, and their personalities were blessings to me.

If you have a group of girlfriends seeking something to study and discuss, I recommend "Trusting God." If you just want some refreshing insight into God's word, I also recommend "Trusting God."

Trusting God is written by three women that are part of a ministry called Girlfriends in God. I was not aware of this ministry prior to reading this book but am grateful that I was introduced to it. This book is a twelve-week devotional that includes a Bible-study guide, as well as, journal pages. What I loved about this book is that you can either study it on your own or make it part of a group study. As I read through this book it was like I was sitting among friends. I enjoyed the contribution of all three authors as they described both personal stories and stories of others. The stories are relatable and encouraging. Each devotional contains the following: Today's Truth (a scripture), Friend to Friend (a story) and Let's Pray (a prayer). Each week has five devotionals and the sixth day is called Now It's Your Turn. This day contains the study guide for the week, a journal and a scripture.

I really enjoyed this book and rate it among one of my favorite devotionals. I highly recommend this book!
