In the small group Bible study, One Thousand Gifts, New York Times best-selling author Ann Voskamp ponders the question of finding joy in midst of everything from the typical grind of daily chores and deadlines to the catastrophes every person eventually faces.
How, Ann muses, do you break the bondage of fear that has white-knuckle control on your life and instead embrace the everyday blessings that immerse you in Christs fullness? How can you live life with a heart overflowing with delight?
In this five-session small group Bible study, Ann encourages participants to take on the life-changing discipline of journaling God's giftsto find the good in life in all circumstances. Its only in this expression of gratitude for the life we already have, that we discover the life we've always wanted a life we can take, give thanks for, and use to serve others. In it, we come to feel and know the impossible right down to our core: We are wildly loved by God.
Embark on this personal, honest and fresh exploration of what it means to be deeply fulfilled, wholly happy, and fully alive. When used together, this Participant Guide and companion DVD provide you with a practical tool that can transform your faith.

Ann Voskamp is wife of one good farmer, the home-educating mama to a half-dozen exuberant kids, and author of New York Times bestsellers, The Greatest Gift and One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are.
Named by Christianity Today as one of 50 women most shaping culture and the church today, and a partner with Compassion International as a global advocate for needy children, Ann's a regular loser of library books, usually has a sink full of soaking pots, sees empty laundry baskets rarer than a blue moon, and believes that the sky and fresh mercy over the farm is large and all is grace. becky4 Stars Out Of 51000 GiftsMarch 8, 2016beckyQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4we are using this for a women's group study. it has been refreshing and inspiring. this series challenges us to take time to recognize and thank God for His gifts, which could be as simple as the birds singing or a smile.
Jeff5 Stars Out Of 5A challenge for all of us who live life too fastFebruary 25, 2015JeffQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5As a guy who thinks in a logical, sequential manner I had a hard time reading Ann's book. I worked my way through it, and was glad I did, but I struggled with her artistic/poetic style of writing. But this DVD was much easier for me to watch and process. We are using the DVD and Study booklet in our small group. We have told friends who are not in our group about this amazing video and now they want to watch it. Definitely a good investment as we have already begun a "loaner list".
DebbieGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Life changingFebruary 6, 2015DebbieGender: femaleWas great hearing in Ann's own words some of what she's written in the companion book. The sessions are short (longest is about 24 min.) which allows time for discussion and reflection on questions and Bible passages related to the particular focus of the session. Was wonderful to be challenged to draw closer to God and share intimately with other women.

Kathlyn Dean5 Stars Out Of 5Life ChangingSeptember 3, 2014Kathlyn DeanQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Did this study with a group of ladies in my neighborhood. It was a good way to get to know each other better. Only a couple did all five studies as Ann's revelations about herself compel you to examine your own attitudes and motives. The video was beautifully filmed and included stunning photography by Ann Voskamp. The content led to serious introspection and hopefully a better understanding of yourself and a growing faith in the God who truly sees and cares.
Q: Are the book and participant's guide both necessary for the Bible study or is only the participant's guide needed?
Only the participant's guide is required. Suggested readings from the book are included but not essential.
Q: Does the DVD have closed captioning for the hearing impaired?
No, the DVD does not have closed captioning. However, it does have English subtitles.
Q: How long are the DVD segments? I teach a Bible Study on Sunday nights and our time is limited. In some studies the video segments are way too long for this time frame.
Each DVD segment is about 20-25 minutes long.
