Author/Artist Review

Author: Suzanne Woods Fisher

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm a writer of fiction and non-fiction books about the Old Order Amish. And I'm the radio host for "Amish Wisdom" on toginet.com. I'm also a wife and mom, a mediocre tennis player, a gardener, a cook, and I raise puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

What was your motivation behind this project?  "The Waiting" is book 2 in the Lancaster County Secrets series. It's set in the same town as "The Choice"--a fictitious town called Stoney Ridge in Pennsylvania. This story takes place in the sixties, so there are a few crossover characters but they are at different ages. Fun!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  This is a book about a family, coping in the midst of hard events, but holding tight to the ties that bind them.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I think this will always be one of my favorites stories. It practically wrote itself! I think the characters are very inspiring. Not perfect people, but they rely on a perfect God.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I met an Old Order Amish bishop who was the inspiration for the character of Caleb Zook. Caleb is just...solid. That's exactly how I felt about that bishop--just...solid!

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I hope you'll enjoy "The Waiting" as much as I enjoyed writing it. And soon to follow is "The Search!" Again...same town...different time period! Stay tuned!
