The Shack was recommended by my spiritual director. It is helping me to think and pray about my own relationship with God and images of God. I would also recommend it highly to others.

I have given this book 5 stars for a reason. I was raised in a Christian home and raised my children in a Christian home and I have never read anything that shows God in such a loving way. Most people that got to the part of God being a woman and black put the book down and didn't read anymore. Since all we really know about God is what we read in the bible, I feel the author of the book brought the love of God out in a really good light. God is LOVE, and he loves us unconditionaly. Only if we could love like that. The whole reason for the book was to show us, all of us, that for many many years we have put God in a box and said this is what he looks like and this is how he is. But we can't and shouldn't put God in a box. He is so capable of the GREATEST LOVE and the GREATEST MIRICLES that this book if nothing else should have opened our eyes to the fact that God is TRUE love and UNCONDITIONAL love. When I read the book, I couldn't help but to feel ashamed many many times. I too have on many instances put God in a box. I had to ask for forgiveness. Yes, this was a fictional book, but it was wrote to open our eyes that Gods grace, goodness and love are so abundant! For the ones that did not give this book a rating or a bad review, I say to you, step back and take God out of the box you have him in and just ask him to show you more about him!!!

I read this book a few years ago. and gave the book to a friend to read.so i bought another !

It's a book that when you start reading you have a hard time putting it down. I hope some day they will make a movie of it. Very Very good book with Gods love.

You know, I remember reading this book a couple of times ago, I got really excited! But when I went online to see the reactions.. well quite frankly : I was disappointed.

Well, I'll speak for myself now. What can I say except the fact that:

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! And, I have every intention of picking it up again! I guess the reason it wasn't really well received among some Christians is that, well, it offers a new perspective of the Trinity, of Heaven and mostly of the Faithfulness of God -- while at the same time staying within the Biblical context (Very important). If that sounds interesting to you, and/or if you're looking for something new, Christ-based and creative, that might really encourage you in difficult times, I suggest you read this book and look for GOD in it-- I believe that He is included in this-- truly. Well done William Young! Your imagination is really unique, and I found myself wishing I was in Mack's place in the presence of Papa.

You'll find useful life lessons in this one. You'll find hope in this world of despair, oh, and believe me, it will make you wonder what It will be like to finally see HIM! Ah, fellows, can you get any better than that?

    Great Read! Highly Recommended!
