Crystal5 Stars Out Of 5Simply Beautiful!June 4, 2018CrystalQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0There are so many things I enjoyed about this book! Tamsen and Jesse's romance unfolded at a slow and beautiful pace. I couldn't get enough of the tenderness, protectiveness, and patience Jesse showed toward Tamsen as he waited for her to untangle her own feelings toward him. Cade quickly became one of my favorite characters with his quiet, wise spirit. Finally, Benton wove an edge of suspense throughout the plot as secrets were revealed about connections between characters and long buried family secrets. Overall touching story with an insightful (and little known) historical angle.

ibjoy1953VirginiaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn by Lori BentonOctober 2, 2014ibjoy1953VirginiaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My Review When Tamsen LIttlejohn escaped here home and horrible lifestyle, she thought life would be much better for her, but that wasn't the case for Ms. Littlejohn. Traveling across the mountain wilderness with Jesse Bird proved to be ful of hardships and difficulties that pressed Ms. Little to her limits, and then some. This is one of those books that make you go, WOW and WOW again! Tamsen was a lady that was as tough as tough can get! Her determination is one thing that kept me reading, and reading until the last page! I had trouble putting this book down, simply because I didn't want to leave the characters. Jesse was awesome! I loved everything about him! This is my first book by Lori Benton, but I will surely be picking up her debut novel and reading it as well.
This is a great book for those who enjoy historical fiction, especially the 1700's era. You will be in for a big and enjoyable read when you pick this one up to read!
I was provided a copy of this book by Blogging for Books. I was not required to write anything positive. The opinions here are mine only.

MauriKansasAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The Pursuit of Tamsen LittlejohnAugust 22, 2017MauriKansasAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Tamsen Littlejohn has traveled with her mother, Sarah and step-father, Hezekiah Parrish to Morganton, North Carolina for the purpose of meeting Ambrose Kincaid, a wealthy man who is enamored with Tamsen after seeing a miniature portrait of her. Her step-father is determined they make a match, hoping to gain from their marriage. After things go horribly wrong, Tamsen flees with the help of Jesse Bird, a young frontiersman, who she doesn't really know but who is willing to help. They embark on a journey fraught with hardship through the mountain wilderness, seeking help from friends of Jesse's as they near the mountain cabin he shares with his adopted father, Cade. Meanwhile, Parrish and Kincaid have enlisted the help of a guide to help them track them. Parrish has convinced them Tamsen has been kidnapped and her mother murdered by the same man. The characters of this book are complex. Tamsen has been sheltered, pampered even but has to toughen up pretty quickly. Jesse doesn't have much knowledge of his first three years; his memories begin around the age of three when he was found by Shawnee and taken to their village and adopted by a couple there. There is where he makes his acquaintance with Cade, who takes an interest in him and escapes with him several years later when it becomes necessary. Jesse straddles the line between the white world and his Shawnee upbringing. He is a tough, honorable man, who shows great tenderness to Tamsen from the beginning when she is overcome with grief. His fierceness is tempered by his Christian faith. This is more than a love story, though it is a great one. There are heart-pounding moments during the pursuit, a hilarious squirrel scene with Tamsen and Jesse's friend, Bears, and quite an unexpected twist near the end. THE PURSUIT OF TAMSEN LITTLEJOHN is an excellent book. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys an adventurous historical romance.
