Don't let Cody's negative review turn you off to this book. Even if you don't agree 100% with every detail in this theology textbook it's still a worthy addition to your library. It covers Biblical, historical, and systematic theological and doctrinal issues very relevant and important for the Church. Church leaders and pastors should have this book in their libraries and read it extensively. Come to your own conclusions only after reading the book for yourself!!!

This handbook of theology has some very deep thoughts and should not be dismissed as unscholarly. You may not agree with some of the author's points but there is a lot here to keep you in deep theological thought.

I got this book for a class at my University. I was expecting it to be a good overview of different types of theology, but I did not expect such a biased, one-sided, narrow-minded take on anything and everything Paul Enns disagrees with. There's a decent coverage of of systems of theology in this book (though there are a few missing), but if it's not Reformed conservative theology, then it's wrong according to this book. Each chapter is laid out in the same fashion: there's a brief, often inaccurate or misleading, description of each system of theology followed by Paul Enns reasons why its wrong and only Reformed Calvinistic theology is the right way to go. There is no objectivity in this work at all, and it is very unscholarly. Not only that, but many of Enns's arguments for his Reformed views are not well thought out. I've read many better arguments from reformed theologians than what Paul Enns offers in this book. In short, if you're looking for a biased Reformed explanation of why only Calvin ever interpreted the Bible correctly, then this is the book for you. If you're looking for a fair, accurate, and objective overview of various modes of theology, then I urge you to look elsewhere.
