lyndeAge: 35-44Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5March 25, 2010lyndeAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleI found this to be a good introduction to drawing basics for my 3rd grader and 5th grader. The lessons are flexible and I like that the text can be photocopied for our home use. I do crafts and art appreciation with my children on my own. It is nice to have a supplement in an area (drawing) that is not my personal strength, so that I can put together a good, well-rounded curriculum.

Jonine3 Stars Out Of 5November 11, 2009JonineIn the beginning this was a fun book for learning art since we had never included art in our homeschool curriculum before. However, I expected my children to be taught more about the principles of drawing itself. This book focuses more on art as a whole which would not have been so terrible if towards the back they did not include major creative writing assignments and how to write different styles of poetry. While I agree that poetry is an art form I would prefer to keep that under language "arts." We abandoned the book with disgust at that point because we already have creative writing galore. In an art curriculum I want ART - not writing. We've moved on to the Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre and it teaches drawing theory.
