She is house sitting for her cousin in Lancaster. While jogging she finds a child who doesn't speak English. She takes her home, feeds, baths and puts some thrift store donations clothes on her. Jodi is engaged and he is going to spend a year in the Mission Field, overseas. Jodi is doubting her faith and then discovers her teaching job has been done away with due to budget cuts. She makes friends with the little girl's family and even becomes a teacher to the Amish school at the request of the Bishop. You will see how each one of the main characters grow in their faith and love. Friendships are formed and Sarah's mother & Jodi become "sisters of the heart". Beverly always writes heart rending stories, faith, love, and makes the characters come alive.

Michelle DawnOhioAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyed every minute of this book!February 28, 2013Michelle DawnOhioAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Home to Hickory Hollow series keeps getting better with each book. I thought The Bridesmaid was my favorite, but I am going to scratch that and say that The Guardian has now taken over that spot! Beverly Lewis once again charms readers with her ability to spin a story that will leave everyone very happy with their return to visit to Hickory Hollow. I knew immediately that this book was going to be good because the opening chapter made me breathless and gave me a bout of anxiety! The Guardian centers on a very special little Amish girl Sarah Esh, who falls from the family buggy one night leaving her mother totally unaware. Being a Mama Bear, I could not imagine what I would do if I were in Maryanna's shoes. I shudder to think. As I was reading I felt like I was watching a movie.....a really well acted movie. The characters give emotional and raw performances that are Oscar worthy. Every character adds something special to the book and their stories weave together in perfect harmony. Well, maybe not such perfect harmony....there is a certain parrot that really gets Maryanna Esh's temper flaring! I enjoyed every minute of this book and know without a doubt you will too.
