Robert Whitlow is one of my go to authors and The Confession is evidence why. A legal thriller that will hold the readers interest from page one - a car wreck with a dead teen and his friend. But the story takes place ten years later as the surviving teen is beginning to build his career and (hopefully) a family.

But as many must learn, the past can not be hidden and the truth will come out. Whether in a car wreck or at the scene of a gunshot, lives are inevitably changed. And when the truth is revealed it will Grace and Mercy to move into the next phase of life. Many years ago I heard a couple of simple definitions of Grace and Mercy:

Grace is getting what we dont deserve.

Mercy is not getting what we do deserve.

Holt Douglas, a relative new assistant DA, and his new friends, Greg and Valerie Stevens, would need to learn the meaning of those words - both from God and from each other. And they do.

I hope that the author is not done with these characters - there is still life in a community with some borderline corrupt politicians and lawmen, and a new lawyer with little allegiance to the existing power brokers in town. Life is not done for a new believer, with a new job, and a new wife - a life I would like to read more about. But even if this is the only story with these characters, the book is worth the time spent reading it over the past week. It was for me, I expect it will be for others as well.

I have been a fan of Robert Whitlow for some time, and I found The Confession to be honest, gritty, and real. It's a story about redemption that comes about in a way that is totally unexpected. There are enough plot twists to raise the eyebrows, and some twists in the story line that give you moments of gasp. While there is a romance involved, it doesn't turn out the way you would think, with the "walking into the sunset together." Loved it.

The idea of confession snapped along as the book progressed. There really wasn't a stopping place because I wanted to know what would happen. I couldn't wait to pick it up again. I G ad high expectations from this book as I've read other books by this author abd am never disappointed.

This is the first Robert Whitlow book that I have read. My hubby told me what a great author he was, and that I really should read his books. Well, "The Confession" came out, and I decided to give it a try. It was amazing!!

It starts off with Holt Douglas, and his best friend at a party, and then ending up in an accident. Fast forward ten years, and Holt Douglas is now Assistant District Attorney Holt Douglas. He is very proficient at his job of getting a guilty verdict, especially when he has a written confession in hand.

He stumbles upon an old case that was technically solved, but it just doesn't sit well with him. He begins to dig into the case, and does not believe that the town's wealthy citizen committed suicide. His boss tells him to leave it alone, or else! With all his digging, he begins to battle his own thoughts, of guilt, confession and forgiveness. But, if he confesses, he has a chance to lose his promising career, not to mention his girlfriend.

I received this e-book free, from Book Look Bloggers, for my honest review. The opinions were my own. :)
