"I don't suppose you have a friend who is a warthog. You probably don't have a friend who is a professional detective, either. So it's very unlikely that you have a friend who's both. But I do." So begins the adventures of Bill the Warthog and his friend Nick Sayga as they piece together neighborhood mysteries and reveal Bible lessons in each case. Buckle up for a wild ride!
Bring out your inner super-sleuth with Bill the Warthog in The Case of the Campfire Caper, the seventh book in this exciting mystery series! Crack open 10 different creative cases while exploring important Bible lessons in each edge-of-your-seat book!
Bears, snakes, and warthogs... oh my! The world's favorite (OK, the world's only) warthog detective and his buddy Nick leave civilization behind and head for the woods. Getting back to nature has never quite been like this before, even for a warthog! Activate your detective skills to help this dynamic duo shed some light on these puzzling mysteries as you discover more about the wonder and beauty of God's creation. Now about that suspicious goo...
Meet Bill the Warthog, the best (and only) warthog detective in the world! He's not your average warthog: he wears dress shoes on his hind feet, dress pants, a pressed white shirt, tie, and a long trench coat. Oh, and did we mention he always wears a fedora hat? With a great nose for mysteries (and delicious bugs!), not a lot gets past Bill, but it's OK: he's one of the good guys! Join Bill on his quest to solve persnickety puzzles, crush kid-sized crimes, and thwart threatening thieves.

Tell us a little about yourself. I've loved going to camps most of my life. As a kid I went to Westminister Woods, Calvin Crest, Mt. Hermon, Woodleaf and others. As a Young Life leader and youth pastor I've taken kids to some of those camps along with Forest Home, Shamineau and Hume Lake. So it was nice to be able to send Bill and Nick off to camp.
What was your motivation behind this project? There is much controversy about this world came to be. I thought it was important to bring kids back to Genesis 1 & 2 for a reminder that the important thing is that God is the one who made the world and us.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Grow in appreciation of God as Creator. (This is also the first Bill book where a character decides to follow Jesus. With the Spirit's leading, perhaps some young readers will make the same choice.)
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? It was fun to dedicate this book to my parents, who sent me off to camp many times, and always took me back.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Some of my favorite books arguing for God as Creator: C. S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity", Lee Stobel's "The Case for a Creator", Phillip Johnson's "Darwin on Trial", Michael Behe's "The Black Box" among others.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Camp is cool. If you find one that honors Jesus, your experience will be even cooler.
