Laura P.DetroitAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A MUST HAVE commentary set for every serious student of God's Word!!!March 4, 2015Laura P.DetroitAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This commentary set has been a tremendous help in my walk with the Lord. Dr. Warren Wiersbe is a true man of God, who has written this series in such an easy to understand format, anyone can pick it up and receive wonderful verse by verse explanations/meanings and insight into God's Word. Though I have been a believer/follower of Christ most of my life, I have not had any formal Bible training, yet Dr. Wiersbe writes with such clarity and in a "down to earth" fashion, it is a thorough encouragement and makes me want to dig into God's Word even deeper and learn and grow more. This series of commentaries more than met my hopes and expectations, and if I could give it more than five stars, I would! I wish I had this set many, many years ago!! Thank you, Dr. Wiersbe, for your wonderful work and to CBD for making it available at a reasonable price!
Former New AgerMid-Atlantic5 Stars Out Of 5Quality Set by WiersbeFebruary 20, 2015Former New AgerMid-AtlanticQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have enjoyed using some of Wiersbe's individual study books on the books of the Bible and was happy to discover these 6 volumes (at a good price) that contain those studies on all of the Bible books. The volumes are good quality; the pages are not thin but have a good thickness, and the print is not small. Each volume has a similar graphic but different color, with the cover indicating the first and last book covered in each volume. If you like Wiersbe, then this set is a great buy, and it will save you a lot of money from buying each individual study guide.
Wiersbe is a good go-to person for an overall commentary for private or group Bible study. I still think one should consult other commentaries, but Wiersbe is one of my favorites. He clearly holds Scripture in the highest regard and honors Christ in the way he writes.
B Carr5 Stars Out Of 5Great Hope!January 26, 2015B CarrI bought this for my son, for Christmas. he is studying to go into the ministry. he was thrilled to get them, as they will be very helpful in his studies.
Bob C5 Stars Out Of 5Inspirational and effective Bible StudyJanuary 23, 2015Bob CQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After decades away from active Bible study, I have been inspired by the compassionate and inspired direction of a wonderful interim pastor here in Castroville, TX. He recommended the Warren W. Wiersbe Commentaries for a study support system. Along with this, I have used the excellent study guides by Paul Blackham available on-line.
I highly recommend both - but Wiesrbe's Commentary seems to track somewhat better with my Life Application Bible, so I have opted to use them and then check back with Paul Blackham's guides to ensure I haven't missed anything.
Again, highly recommend Wiersbe for anyone who is interested in advancing their spiritual and academic knowledge of the Bible and its meaning for individual study.
AndrewAge: 25-34Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5Invaluable ResourceDecember 23, 2014AndrewAge: 25-34Gender: MaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I use to work for a Christian retailer for several years and was acutely aware of Warren W. Wiersbe and his works, among a plethora of other writer's resources. In my decision to delve deeper into the Bible by way of commentary resource(s), I chose to lay out the equivalent commentary of the particular book of the Bible from the various authors I chose (McGee, MacArthur, Boice, Henry, Wiersbe, Phillips, among more!) and essentially narrowed my preferences down to two authors: J. Vernon McGee and Warren W. Wiersbe, who were the easiest to understand but still get a rich commentary.
Specifically, this product came as described. I'm very satisfied and am sure this will come in handy as an invaluable resource in my library.
Q: Are the OT commentaries available separately? We have the NT already.
Unfortunately, at this time the Old Testament is no available separately.
Q: Do the commentaries in the set include the discussion questions at the end of each chapter like in the newer individual books?
No, these commentaries do not include the "Questions for Personal Reflection or Group Discussion".
Q: Does this commentary approach Genesis from a young earth creation perspective?
It does not explicitly state young or old Earth. It addresses the issue by stating that words should hold their meaning in the field of their study, in this case theology. Thus in some instances days are 24 hours and sometimes they are longer periods of time such as "The Day of the Lord".
Q: Does this series include all the BE Series commentaries, exactly as in the individual books or is it commented from a different prespective? I wish to have all Be Series commentaries and want to get this series as it seems to be a better deal, but first i want to make sure these include all the Be Series commentaries and not a different sent of commentaries. Thank you for your help!
Yes, the material in this commentary is identical to that of the Be Series.
