Mia B.5 Stars Out Of 5Just the 'bear' facts. . .February 23, 2016Mia B.Quality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have always loved the Berenstain Bear family stories. They teach good character, morals, and habits in a colorful, engaging, entertaining way... causing children to feel they are 'normal' in their feelings and actions. I like that this one (& two others I purchased) intentionally include God & faith!!! (My own children enjoyed these, & now my grandchildren can enjoy the new titles, too!) Very nostalgic. . .

Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5April 16, 2014FitzysmomThe adorable Berenstain Bear family is back and they are talking about faith. Brother and Sister Bear have a friend named Ferdy Factual. Ferdy loves everything about science. In fact he puts his faith in science rather than God, who he doesn't believe in. This is very perplexing to the young cubs and causes them to wonder what faith is.
Through some conversations with their parents and their pastor the cubs begin to explore what exactly faith is. The story uses Daniel and the Lions Den as an example of having faith in a God you cannot see.
I think you will enjoy reading this with your kiddos and discussing what having faith in God means. It is a great tool to begin a conversation that will lead to a deeper understanding of faith for your children. In the back of the book is a list of resource to use for discussion questions and suggested activities to help instill the truths that were presented.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review. -

When Brother and Sister Bear's friend Ferdy Factual tells them he doesn't believe God created the world, the Bear cubs don't know what to think. What does it mean to have faith? Can Preacher Brown help?
About the Author:
Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents, Stan and Jan, working together to write and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too.
My Review:
The beloved work of Stan&Jan Berenstain live on in the artistic hands of their son, Mike. Nike Berenstain has continued the tradition that his parents started all those years ago. My family love the Berenstain Bears just as my husband & I did as children. The character lessons that this series provides is something I love sharing with my children and will continue on to our grands some day.
The latest book in the series is, The Berenstain Bears Keep The Faith, which centers around the fact that Brother and Sister Bear have a friend, Ferdy Factual that doesn't believe in God. After some quiet thought, they finally speak to their parents about this and they in turn take the pair to Preacher Brown so that he can explain "faith" in a way that they can understand in a way to calm their fears and doubts about the subject.
After a discussion&quick reference to the story of Daniel and the lions den, Brother and Sister soon realize that faith in God is very important. And that Daniel teaches them to have an even deeper commitment to our creator.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from my participation on the Z Blog Squad. -
eboots21Age: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great resource to teach kids about FaithFebruary 19, 2014eboots21Age: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Berenstain Bears Keep the Faith is a wonderful book to teach kids about what faith is. The author used examples and illustrations from the bible to keep the interest of readers and listeners. The book was an easy read and kept my 6 year old daughter's attention. Berenstain explained that not everyone believes in God and did a good job showing how kids should go to their parents with questions on issues they aren't sure of or don't line up with their family values.
The topic of science verses creation is ever-present in our culture and is a topic we need to address with our kids. It is good for kids to question why they believe what they believe and going to their parents for answers is best.
The author shows that mama and papa bear didn't have the answers either so they went to Preacher Brown to get the truth. Berenstain used the story of Daniel in the Lions den to show how Daniel trusted god to protect him.
The questions at the back of the book got my kids thinking and talking about what they learned in the story. There are also ideas for activities to correspond to the story for further exploration of the values taught in the story.
We recommend this book to families trying to explain faith to their small children. -
Thrift Schooling5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent BookFebruary 12, 2014Thrift SchoolingQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Keep The Faith is a Living Lights Berenstain Bear book are written by the late Stan and Jan Berenstain's son, Mike Berenstain. The Berenstain Bears were a wonderful childhood series that I enjoyed as a kid. Many of the stories were written with a moral and encouraged children to do what was right. I remember how the inside cover of each book has a memorable little quote, presenting the theme of the story ahead. I loved saving up my money and buying one of these books at my school's annual book sale and I enjoy sharing the stories with my children.
Well, now the deal is even sweeter. Mike Berenstain not only has taken the torch with this series but has written a Christian series with the same lovable characters such as Brother and Sister bear.
In Keep The Faith, Brother and Sister Bear are confronted by Ferdy Factual. Ferdy's father is a scientist who does not believe in God. While admiring the night sky one evening, Sister Bear mentions God as the Creator. Ferdy does not believe in God. This causes for confusion in Brother and Sister Bear causing them to go to their parents.
I love the premise of this book. Sometimes it's hard to teach our kids that not everyone believes the same way we believe. Rather than causing doubt and fear in their little minds, the parents encourage them to have faith. They even go visit Preacher Brown who reminds the children about Daniel in the lions den. I love this application. The children already knew the story about Daniel, the preacher was simply showing them how to apply it in their own personal lives!
The back cover of the book includes discussion questions that parents can have with their children. The book is geared toward children ages 4-8 and I think this is a great resource for a Creationist as myself! I highly recommend this book for your family!
