Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet Western RomanceJuly 2, 2014Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Stuck Together is the third book in the Trouble in Texas series. I have enjoyed all three books in this series, and particularly like that all of the characters from each previous book are present in the later books. That being said, I believe that this book is best read as part of the trilogy. These books really build on one another and make much more sense if you know the full story.
Stuck Together was probably the slowest going of the three books for me — at first. I had trouble getting into the story for awhile. And, honestly, for the first third of the book, I did not like the heroine, Tina Cahill. I think that is what slowed my reading down. Because when I don't care for the character, it doesn't matter much to me what happens to them. But, knowing that I usually really enjoy this author's writing, I kept reading, and I am very glad I did.
I am pleased to say that the author was able to turn around my opinion of Tina Cahill. Now, she won't ever be my favorite character, but my opinion of her was dramatically improved as I continued reading. I think part of that was getting to see her through Vince's eyes, and I really liked Vince! What a heart that guy has! He had some major trials in his life and didn't hold much hope for his future. Seeing him learn to accept the past and find hope in his future was great.
Once I accepted Tina for who she was and really dived into the story, the book just took off for me and became a very enjoyable and fast read. There is a lot of sweet romance in this story, a gentle and thought-provoking issue with Vince's mother, and plenty of western-style shootin'! I loved the epilogue at the end of the book. It tied everything up with a pretty little bow.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review, which I have given. -
Melissa BCincinnati, OHAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great CharactersJune 29, 2014Melissa BCincinnati, OHAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3This story takes place in the Old West/Southern Belle time period. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Tina who is anything but a southern belle. Her motto is that a girl has to be able to take care of herself and I thought she was very relate-able. Vince is the male lead character and is a cowboy, gentleman who always thinks of others before himself. They both had a difficult childhood which made an impact on them and now they are determined to not be "stuck together" because they are the only young, unmarried folks in town. I thought the "saloon fight" in the beginning dragged on a little, but in general the plot twists were great and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next.

Sue from MidwestMidwestAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Loved the plot twistsJune 22, 2014Sue from MidwestMidwestAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I enjoyed Mary Connealy's recently released book: Stuck Together. It is Book 3 of the "Trouble in Texas" series. Even if you haven't read the first 2 books of this series, you'll be in the know soon, as Mary does a good job of quickly giving you the back story of the first 2 books. Because I enjoyed both of the first 2 books, I was very glad to see all my favorite characters throughout this third book.
I already loved Vince from the first two books, but love him more as we learn about his background. No matter what pain or sorrows her characters have faced, Mary Connealy manages to bring out some humor to help see them through the tough times.
Tina Cahill is a multi-talented woman with a tender heart, but still finds ways to get into trouble. So she fits right into a series called Trouble in Texas.
Stuck Together is a great read---personally, I love to read a book that is set in a location/time far different from my own. And I just love Mary Connealy's historical romantic comedies! Stuck Together is another great read from a great author! -

Mary Connealy
Mary, this book kept my interest through the 'Emergency' that lasted over two weeks!
Despite very little time to enjoy your book, and less time to read keeping vigil 24/7- I wanted to finish your book. Eventually, I did.
You have a talent I think, for taking horrible, hard to match personalities-ones not likely to get a Second, or even First Date with each other, and you get the real life awkward to line up. Your odd-shaped lids and beat up pots, find a way in every story to end up complimenting each other in an everlasting way. I'm getting amazed at your...tenacity? I can't quite believe it could happen and last in real life-but the pen is mightier than the sword.
I think your stories have the potential to inspire a lot of lonely people to believe in the 'impossible'. The 'misfits' you embrace as characters, look like 'real' toys at the end of each of your journeys. Nice job on tightening up your writing style. But, don't be mad...I think you're still destined to surprise yourself, even yet.

Jess88Age: Under 18Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Not the greatestJune 19, 2014Jess88Age: Under 18Gender: femaleWhen a lawman who values order gets stuck with a feisty crusader who likes to stir things up, there's going to be trouble in Texas!
Now that she's settled in town, Tina Cahill is determined to get Broken Wheel's saloon closed for good. To that end, she pickets outside the place every afternoon. Unfortunately, so far no one has paid any attention.
Vince Yates earned the nickname "Invincible Vince" because of his reputation for letting absolutely nothing stop him. But Vince is about to face his biggest challenge yet: his past has just caught up with him. His father, mother, and the sister he didn't know he had show up in Broken Wheel without warning. His father is still a schemer. His mother is showing signs of dementia. And his surprise sister quickly falls for one of Vince's best friends. Vince suddenly has a lot of people depending on him, and Tina doesn't approve of how he's handling any of them.
With nearly every other man in town married off, Vince finds himself stuck with strong-willed Tina over and over again. Of course, Tina is the prettiest woman he's ever seen, so if he could just get her to give up her crazy causes, he might go ahead and propose. But he's got one more surprise coming his way: Tina's picketing at the saloon has revealed a dark secret that could put everyone Vince loves in danger.
MyTake
When I first started this book I thought okay so far I have nothing in common with Vince Yates or Tina Cahill! But it was interesting and entertaining so I kept reading. And I realized that I had a lot more in common with the characters than I first thought. Vince is a great guy full of charm and sarcastic whit. But his always being so concerned with turning out like his dad or mom really annoyed me. Just because your parents are a certain way does not automatically mean you will turn out to be like them. How you act is your choice.
Tina was great! You might think it's strange but I like characters - especially main female characters - who are full of spunk, like Tina is. She is sassy, independent In a way, sarcastic, and strong. Her chemistry with Vince was great! All in all I'd say this book was ok, I didn't read the other books in the series but it didn't really seem like you would have to, it didn't have two many characters so it wasen't confusing. It wasn't my typical type of book, I'd usually go for a mystery/suspense book. It was boring at times and I didn't think they were very good detectives but then again this is not an mystery book lol! This book was pretty good anyway.
