Stress: How to Cope at the End of Your Rope

There is a treasure trove of practical, Biblical advice in June Hunt's mini-book, "Stress."  As she weaves Abraham Lincoln's own experience with runaway stress, Hunt presents a story that parallels our own stressful lives.  She uses Lincoln's historical demise into depression to illustrate the Biblical way to (and not to) respond to stress.

Are you wondering if you are a candidate for stress burnout?  This mini-book includes a very helpful "checklist" you can use to see if you are a candidate for burnout. Hunt emphasizes important stress reducing techniques for everyone: prayer, exercise, writing, thankfulness, talking things over, forgiveness, humor, healthy eating, memorizing scripture and tips on how to manage your mind.

Further on in the book, Hunt asks the important question: "Are you releasing your heavy load to the Lord and allowing His peace to permeate your heart? The Bible says: "A heart at peace gives life to the body..." (Proverbs 14:30)

She moves from there into how to have a transformed life and gives a presentation of the "Greatest spiritual stress reducer:" knowing Christ as Savior.

Hunt says: "Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior does not make you immune to the stresses of life. But with Jesus living inside of you, His strength helps you because "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isaiah 40:29).

This is a powerful book to have on hand to share with a stressed friend - or to keep on your own bookshelf. Everyone will need its wisdom at some point in life.
