Shari BradleyVista, CAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Exciting and relevant action-packed series!November 2, 2013Shari BradleyVista, CAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Strait of Hormuz.Lion of Babylon, Rare Earth, and now Strait of Hormuz, a trio of thrilling adventures, heart-wrenching romance, and life-changing light and love in every one. In each story, Davis Bunn (one of my all-time favorite authors) swiftly involves you in the action with gripping detail, bringing you along with the characters step by step on their journey to find their purpose as they grow closer to one another and the One who guides, protects, and loves them.
Though Mark and Kitra are the primary focus, I found the complexities of the other characters and the trials they face to be equally stirring, very much like ourselves and the passages we each face in our own lives.
It is not easy being an operative in this dangerous world of international intrigue and turmoil, nor is it easy to really look inside and see ourselves for who we are. In these engaging stories, we have seen Mark overcome tragic times in his life to live again and love again, all the while serving his country and his God. Come along with Mark and Kitra as they face seemingly insurmountable odds to save the innocent, their relationship, and their faith. If you have not read Lion of Babylon and Rare Earth, I highly recommend that you do, not just to fill in the back story of this fine novel, but because they are each a great read I guarantee you will enjoy.

MaryAnnORAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Internationl Adventure and IntrigueNovember 2, 2013MaryAnnORAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Plunge into the world of international intrigue and danger in Davis Bunn's newest book, Strait of Hormuz. Marc Royce, who starred in the astounding Lion of Babylon and its exciting sequel Rare Earth, needs to stay at the top of his game to outwit and survive the enemy's tricks and attacks. When even his American compatriots seem to suspect him and thwart his efforts to protect the world from nuclear meltdown, Marc must decide whom he can trust and how to carry out his mission–even if it means going it on his own.
Circumstances throw Marc and Kitra Korban together again, which can be awkward as they attempt to deal with the threats they face and the future they long to spend together. They must both overcome the past in order to move forward.
I always enjoy the way Davis Bunn weaves his stories with authentic characterization, thrilling plots, and realistic settings, and includes new technology in the mix. The novel definitely sounds like something from the pages of current history. Let's hope if such a crisis does develop that the outcome turns out as well as this novel ends. -

Marc Royce has again been called to investigate a matter that could involve the whole world in war, started unwittingly by the United States. As usual, Marc's appointment upsets powerful government leaders, so he must work without official sanction and against numerous attempts to have him removed from the case.
A mysterious caller directs Kitra to join Marc in Switzerland and save his life. As she enters an art gallery where Marc has discovered a dead body, a bomb destroys the entire gallery. The Swiss police immediately accuse Marc of murder and the bombing.
The threat that Iran is shipping nuclear weapons through the Strait of Hormuz has American was ships heading that way to stop the shipment. But no one knows which ships hold the weapons because containers have been moved several times to new vessels. If no weapons travel through the Strait, the US will be embarrassed in front of the entire world.
From time to time phone calls from unknown people direct Marc and Kitra how to proceed. Certain people may or may not be on their side. Who and what can they trust?
Marc finally figures out the real danger and at the last moment directs the destruction of terrorists' threats. What he learns and does surprises everyone.
Like others in this series, Strait of Hormuz is fiction based on possible real world dangers. A good read. -
Phronsie HowellAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5December 11, 2013Phronsie HowellAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Honestly, it didn't move as quickly as I was hoping it would. It's not a bad story and it's not poorly written, it just didn't capture my attention like I was expecting. I'll definitely be reading it again when I get the chance. I haven't read anything else by Davis Bunn so it might just be that I'm not used to how he writes. I really don't know. I tried to be super into the book but I just wasn't.

Jill JonesOpelika, ALAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Danger and Adventure aboundDecember 3, 2013Jill JonesOpelika, ALAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Strait of Hormuz" is the third book in the Marc Royce Adventure series by Davis Bunn. Filled with danger, adventure and a twinge of romance, "Strait of Hormuz" will be another hit with Davis Bunn fans. Beginning with a new assignment for Marc Royce, he is joined (or saved rather) by an operative with the Mossad, Kitra Korban, who was sent to keep an eye on the undercover operation. When a gallery explodes and a man is killed, the turn of events lead Royce and Kitra on a mission to save the world from an Iranian plan to cut off shipping routes from the Strait of Hormuz.
As always, Davis Bunn incorporates action and suspense to make a story that is hard to quit reading until the end. "Strait of Hormuz" can be read without reading the previous books in the series; however, in order to completely enjoy the story and appreciate the romance and intrigue, you may desire to read them in order beginning with "The Lion of Babylon" followed by "Rare Earth". There are references in the book to events covered in the others.
I did not follow the plot well until the end of the book as I was focused on what was going on with the characters. I'm sure that reading the book out of order may have had something to do with it.
