We enjoy these cards. Going past the usual learning the states and capitals these cards provide added information. The cards are color coded by region, when the state entered the Union, the state flags and postal abbreviations and a thumb nail of the state with its neighboring states. These cards also include: State bird, State Flower, Nickname, Industries, Agriculture, Attractions and other interesting facts.

For us recognizing a state by its shape - is well, pretty darn easy to start with. Hint: the trick on learning the capitals is to say the city and the state at the same time. (if just starting out, I would suggest to just start with the state and state bird)

We incorporated these cards in our study of history, business and believe it or not chemistry! Yeah Chemistry! We printed out a map of the U.S. (on 9 sheets of paper) and placed each card down on the appropriate state as they entered the Union. Try it! It is surprising! Than we created a map for all the industries and another map for agriculture. After every industry, agriculture is listed we than explore how chemistry was / is involved. Surprising stuff!

These cards are a tremendous tool in creating our states binder (that is always added to throughout the year(s) , i.e. state motto's etc.). We are always learning something new about a state or its people. It is great for developing math problems and using graphs.

We are sure we will find other uses for these cards. And YES! These cards are Made in the U.S.A. , from St. Paul, MN

    Thank you for your time.

I was trying to do state facts on my own. It was a lot of prep work for each lesson trying to find the info I was looking for and a lot of expensive ink printing pictures of the state maps. Here is a set of cards with all these facts in one neat little deck of cards! Perfect!!!
