I bought the entire set but my kids, ages 7 and 9, have only started reading this one. My kids are not home schooled and I bought this set as an enrichment activity after reading an article about home schooling in the paper. Susan has a way of writing that really capture's my children's attention. My kids are also learning about history as well as geography because we reference maps as we are reading. Highly recommend this series!

I love these books. My daughter grabbed this one right out of the box and just started reading it. She found it hard to put down. She is really interested in this part of history and these books put it into such an easy to read way that we love it. She is 10 and just became interested in reading about a year ago.

We've been absolutely loving this Volume. I read it aloud to my homeschooling children ages 3-12 on a bi-weekly schedule. (We typically go through 2 chapters each week, then do science for a week, then history...it works amazing!)

I read aloud while my kiddos color then we go through review questions and sometimes the narration. I try to do some of the creative extensions each week but it's not something that I stress about. At the end of 4 chapters, we take a day to go over the review cards. I typically look ahead a few weeks and try to order some extra suggested books from the library and we read those during free time.

When we get to volume 3, I will be purchasing the tests for my older children. I have 1 older son in public school and I can say that my homeschooled children are learning so much more about history then he is in public school. I'm so thankful for SOTW!

**I will say that every once in a while we come across something that is contrary to what we believe, however, we just look at it as an opportunity for discussion. Our kids have to live in this world, I want to equip them, not shelter them :)

This book is a great addition to our family library. It gives a brief historical overview of the regions of the world during the specific time period of the Middle Ages. Has pictures, stories, and trivia to add to each section. She asks questions in each chapter that are thought provoking and engage you as a reader. Although my children go to public school I was looking for something to add to their historical knowledge to help fill in the gaps they are not getting at school. This book makes history interesting and also great to read as an adult. I have read it aloud to my 5 and 9 year old and they get it and love it. Looking forward to reading the other volumes.
