After homeschooling my first one all the way through to High School, I feel Singapore Math strongly prepared them for High School Math and beyond. I love the workbook format at younger ages. I makes the math seem not so intimidating.

This is the best math workbook I found for my children. They are wonderful, very dense and convers everything. I fully recommend this to every parent.

We have used Singapore math for 5 years now. By far the best math I found. (I have 4 children and HS for 8 years). My 12yo is finishing 6B, my 10yo is in 6A, my 8yo just finished 2B, and I will start my 5yo on 1A this fall. It teaches with an emphasis on mental calculation. I read over the unit with them and then they work independently unless a question arises. An older elementary student could easily read instructions on their own. I find the quantity of work to be very doable in a standard school year. HOWEVER...when I got to 6B (mainly the later half) I really needed the teachers guide. I felt that this level in particular was lacking a bit in instruction. I didn't feel the need with any of the other levels until I got to this one. I would still recommend it but would advise that you purchase the teachers guide to use along side. Great math !
