Silenced is the fantastic fourth installment in Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series. As in each of the previous books, this story includes an exciting cast of characters but focuses particularly on one of the McKenna siblings This time the spotlight is on Kayden.

Having read to this point in the Alaskan Courage series, the McKennas and other characters seem like old friends. Dani writes with such clarity and detail that all the people come alive off the pages. And the adventures they take part in keep a realistic and exciting level of suspense working throughout each book. Silenced is certainly no exception.

Dani will finish the series with Reef's story in Sabatoged, coming in the spring of 2015. I can't wait to read that one as well!

Thanks to Bethany House for providing a copy of Silenced in exchange for my honest review.

This is probably my favorite in the Alaskan Courage series thus far. I always loved Kayden and Jake as characters and their relationship blooms in Silenced. From the beginning Dani grabbed me and did not let go until the last page! Two mysteries swirl through the plot causing Jake and Kayden to become closer partners to survive the danger and solve the cases! Two weddings also take place with the promise of more to come! I LOVE the new and interesting characters that join the cast. And I can't wait for the hinted after, and beautifully set up, next book with the wild baby brother Reef as the lead McKenna sibling. I am worried though because I don't want this series to end! :D Suspense and plot twists abound, and it's not short on adventure either! A fabulous must read!!!

Songs that I think go with Silenced (my list consists of songs I think fit and some from Dani's picks):

    "Press On" by Mandisa,

"Before the Morning" by Josh Wilson,

    "Worn" by Tenth Avenue North

    "Carry Me" by Josh Wilson,

and "Press On" by (Feat. Blanca Callahan of Group 1 Crew) Building 429 feat. Blanca Callahan of Group 1 Crew

    And here's Dani's picks

Songs etc. May be changed and/or added in the future. ~ASC

I have followed along with the McKenna family since Book 1, and Dani Pettrey kept me on the edge of my seat again in her fourth book in the series, "Silenced."

Kayden McKenna is possibly the toughest of the McKenna clan, holding her feelings in and bracing herself against possible hurt. But after she discovers Jake Westin is more than he first appears, Kayden begins to feel the ice around her heart melting.

But someone is waiting in the shadows to destroy their budding romance, and the result may be their death. When a climber is mysteriously found dead during one of Kayden's climbs, she finds herself thrown together with Jake to find the killer.

I enjoyed this book immensely. However, I feel like there were definitely some things left unsolved regarding the mystery and would have liked to have Pettrey tie up the case better.

This book was definitely hard to put down, and I find myself anxious to read the next one in her series. Overall, I think this would be a great book to take on vacation.

The McKenna siblings return in book four of Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series, this one spotlighting Kayden McKenna as Pettrey once again combines breathless suspense and extreme adventure sports in this novel set in the rugged beauty of Alaska. Heart-pounding tension infuses the pages of this story--from Kayden's free climb up a cliff to the search for the killer of the man whose body she discovers at the top. Kayden and Jake--at odds for so long in the previous novels--have joined forces in an attempt to solve the mystery, and their new friendship deepens as the danger escalates. Just when it seems as if the solution is at hand, Pettrey surprises the reader with an unexpected twist, lending an even more sinister tone and making the book impossible to put down until its conclusion. Don't miss this captivating novel!

I love to read, especially suspense fiction and Dani Pettrey is masterful in that category. This is my fourth book that I have read in her Alaskan Courage series. Each book takes a character in a family and builds stories that are extremely good. All the books have the family characters interwoven throughout which reminds me of Dee Henderson's O'Malley series. This books deals with Kayden McKenna who finds a climber dead and she must find out if it was an accident or murder. Jake Westin is back in town and is asked by the sheriff if he will help investigate. These two will clash with her personality being very closed, strong and independent and fearful. Jake, on the other hand, is a charming, patient, and willing to go after what he wants. The story blends the best of suspense, romance and the classic-who did it. Along with just being a terrific story, I learned a lot about rock climbing.

This book has it all-mystery, romance and how God will win in the end with Kayden and her fears. The author blends God's hope, mercy and grace throughout the storyline and characters which makes her books so enjoyable for me. Loved the plot, characters, Alaska and am eagerly awaiting book #5 dealing with Reef. If you are interested in suspense and romance books, Dani Pettrey and her Alaskan Courage series will not disappoint you. You will enjoy them immensely.

Thank you goes out to Bethany House for this free copy just for my honest opinion.
