BOOK DESCRIPTION- When you live a lie for so long, it becomes a part of you. Like clothing first rough and scratchy, it eventually wears down, thins out. Sinks into your skin.

Thirty-four-year-old Delanie Miller has fled her dark past and is now settled into a quiet life in small-town Kentucky. She has friends, a faux "family" who lives in her house, and a loving boyfriend who may soon ask her to marry him. Her aching dream of a husband and future children are about to come true. But protecting this life of promise means keeping a low profile and guarding the truth of her past–from everyone.

The town's peace is shattered when Delanie's friend, Clara, is murdered, and Delanie finds her body. The police chief quickly zeroes in on Billy King, a simple-minded young man whom Delanie knows would never hurt Clara. Delanie can hunt down evidence and speak out publicly against the chief–only at great risk of her own exposure. But after suffering such injustice in own her past, how can she keep silent now? Delanie must find a way to uncover Clara's murderer yet save the life she's created for herself–the deceit-ridden life that will forever distance her from others and God.

With page-turning intensity, Sidetracked hurtles between Delanie's trauma in Redbud and the chaos of her past. Those experiences forced Delanie to reinvent her present–but at what cost to her future?

My REVIEW- WOW! I finished this book in one afternoon. This read grabs ones attention from the very beginning and reading it is like a train going down hill, you can't stop. The read never slows down and just keeps one on the ride. Delanie is a lovable character that for whom I felt much empathy. After all, what choices were really available to her? I was frustrated that she wouldn't tell her friends the truth, but it kept thinking, what does anyone do in such circumstances. Having seen numerous stories quite a few years back about many who were falsely accused and imprisoned due to a crime scene specialist lying about DNA evidence, I know justice isn't always served. This story reminds me that a God writes our life story, and he gives us the grace and faith to make it through each day and year. Wonderful suspense story, highly recommend! Another five star read this year!

I was given this book through bookfun.org for my honest opinion which I have given.

It has been a true pleasure over the last several years to be associated with The Book Fun Network and for the development of the Book Fun Magazine. I always keep an eye open for any new Brandilyn Collins and was excited when this new book came up for adoption in the month of May. I knew that I couldn't pass this one up, course I also knew that I would be getting any sleep until it was finished.

Finding a dead body was the last thing that Delanie Miller wanted to do, check that, find the her best friend's dead body was the last thing Delanie Miller wanted to do. Thrust into the middle of the investigation because of what she saw that night, Delanie is being forced where she doesn't want to be. Can't the police just take her statement and follow the leads? Why is she being looked at as the bad guy just because she doesn't believe their number 1 suspect is truly guilty. Running concurrently to this story is another story of Laura Denton that seems to be faced with the same dilemma that Delanie sees happening. Laura has been accused of murdering her mother, but it doesn't seem like anything can be done to prove her innocence. Can Delanie keep the investigation on track to ensure the right person is convicted of the crime? Will Laura be sentenced for a murder she claims she didn't commit? Is there a connection between these two girls and their story lines? Find all of the right clues so you can BUY THIS BOOK!!!

From the start, this book grabs you with the story of Delanie's eyewitness account of finding her best friend's body just minutes after leaving the bridal shower. And off it goes, never letting you rest for just a moment. The additional story line that is running about Laura Denton and her murder trial, is equally as breath-taking as you get to see her murder trial, sentencing and life behind bars. This is like getting two great stories in one and both of them edge of your seat excitement. These two stories are clearly explained for their connection at the end and it is truly amazing how the author has managed to put these stories together and make them end up so cleverly. The attention to detail and plot twists make this a must read for anybody.

Is this a "guy's book"? This is ANYBODY's book, which makes it even sweeter. The guy's will enjoy the pulse-pounding, heart-throbbing suspense that reaches out from the front pages of this book never relinquishes control of you till the last page. Make sure you have a full day to finish this, because you won't want to put it down till your done.

I received this book from the publisher and the Book Fun Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest opinion.

If you pick up a Brandilyn Collins book, resign yourself to a few things: a wild, unpredictable ride from the moment you open the book; a strong Christian messa ge, without preachiness; and sleeplessness until the book is read.

The senseless murder of Delaney's friend brings terrifying childhood flashbacks. It seems Delaney is not who she appears to be. Getting involved in protecting the innocent in her friend's murder may cause Delaney's whole past to unravel. Can she trust God to see her through that possibility, or will she keep quiet and play the part of proper fiancée to a rich society man?

As Collins tantalizes the reader with bits and pieces of Delaney's past, interspersed with her present, the tension mounts until the reader feels he or she is with Delaney. As I read the book, I felt the horror like the driver of a metaphorical car zooming along a dark steep road without headlights, wondering when the car would go over the cliff!! Mercifully, the ending came before my blood pressure was off the charts!

Brandilyn Collins' Sidetracked held me spellbound. I could hardly pull myself away from this book!

Delanie Miller is the main character. She is hiding a horribly tragic past as she makes a new home for herself in Redbud, Ky. She has friends here and has even fallen in love with a man who wants to marry her. Her deepest desire is to settle down and have a loving family of her own. The dream appears to be coming true for Delanie, but it all begins to unravel one night when she discovers the body of her friend, Clara. Clara has been murdered and Delanie is forced into the public eye. This is a place she does not want to be. She has too much to hide and too much to lose if her true identity is discovered.

The book flashes back and forth from present day to Delanie's teen years, when she was not Delanie at all. She is really Laura Denton, a young girl accused of a crime of the worst kind. She swore she was innocent. No one believed her. She was a victim of a rush to judgement and an arrogant police chief. Even her own father turned against her. Now, as a grown woman, Delanie once again finds herself in a position which casts doubt on her credibility. Will she be able to find justice for Clara? Will she be able to maintain her present life while doing what she believes is right? She has been living a lie and her past has finally caught up with her, just as she is finally feeling at peace with herself. Has God abandoned her as everyone else has? Will faith sustain her? The turn of events following Clara's murder are full of suspense, fear, and injustice. Delanie is forced to come face to face with the horror of her past. Will it destroy her future? You MUST read this book to discover the answers! Once you begin, you will not be able to put it down!

I received a copy of this book from the author, through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

SIDETRACKED is the story of two characters: 34-year-old Delanie and 16-year-old Laura. The first person narrative flips back and forth between their stories of —to use the train imagery used by Pete-an innocent being "railroaded" and truth being "sidetracked". Delanie's portion deals with her attempts to help slow-witted Billy get out from under his indictment for the murder of her own friend. Delanie's life becomes filled with great foreboding and soul-searching as she tries to help him while protecting her own long-held secrets. As she says, "The truth was everything to me. And the truth was the one thing I could not give."

Laura's sections are painful to read as she is forced to grieve for her dead mother, face the betrayal of her family and her friends, and lose all hope that anyone will believe her innocence. The reader is overwhelmed by her despair and helplessness. She is trapped by a system and people who are supposed to protect her. Her situation and the situation Delanie is investigating kill the spirit and will to live. Then, to quote Delanie,"My two worlds were about to collide, trains on the same track. And I couldn't find the brakes."

Such a heartbreaking story of the failure of the justice system to find the right person guilty of murder! SIDETRACKED is the story of ruthless greed and senseless killing and wrongful imprisonment. However, it is also the story of redemption and hope and the beauty only God can bring from ashes. As a reader, I was totally emotionally involved from the beginning and compulsively read until 4 A.M., hoping that things would turn out all right. The ending was satisfying and cathartic, but the author kept me an emotional wreck until we got there. Great story with some great, strong characters determined to do right regardless of the cost.

I received this book through The Book Club Network, but the opinions expressed are solely my own.
