    Book Description:

Piper McKenna couldn't be more thrilled that her prodigal brother, Reef, has returned to Yancey, Alaska, after five years. But her happiness is short-lived when Reef appears at her house covered in blood. A fellow snowboarder has been killed--but despite the evidence, Reef swears he's innocent. And Piper believes him.

Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKennas like family, but he's also sworn to find the truth. Piper is frustrated with his need for facts over faith, but he knows those closest to you have the power to deceive you the most. With his sheriff pushing for a quick conviction, some unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the truth may mean risking Landon's career.

    My Thoughts:

I have been SO excited to read more from this author. I read Submerged, Book 1 of the Alaskan Courage series, and could not wait to discover more about the state of Alaska and the incredible characters who live in the rugged wilderness. Dani Pettrey is an amazing author and I was thrilled to review her second book!

Once again, the characters took me for a great ride through Alaska. With mystery, intrigue, romance and danger, this book did not disappoint at all! In fact, I could not stop reading. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the characters and trying to figure out what was going to happen.

The McKenna family becomes your own family as you get to know their lives, their struggles, their faith and their deep friendships. As the reader, you want to jump into their town and join them for a family dinner!

I love the way Dani Pettrey builds strong faith into strong fiction. Her stories are well-written and inspiring.

I also love how she weaves past characters and their circumstances into the current story. Not only that, but she is slowly setting the stage for characters to come. I am very excited to dive into more of the McKenna's stories! I wonder which sibling is next??

If you ever wonder why Im tough on books its because of this one. This book is so amazing that it makes all the other books Ive read seem not so great. I have only good words to say about this book. It makes you want to move to Alaska right away and join the McKennas. This isnt really a suspense book, rather an adventure and mystery. Kathleen, another member of the Inkwell Review team, doesnt really like any type of suspense, yet she loved this book. I love the atmosphere of this book. Its very family oriented. All of the siblings are so close and so uplifting to read about. I cant believe what a short review this is, but theres nothing more to say except READ IT!

Another great book in the Alaskan Courage Series. As with the others, Shattered can stand alone or be read with the rest of the series. Great read for anyone who likes romantic suspense!

Oh my goodness... I thought that Submerged was sensational, but Dani Pettrey really outdid herself with Shattered! I'd definitely recommend reading the series in order to really understand the characters and the little details that Dani gradually reveals in each book. This one is my favourite so far. I also loved the addition of Darcy St. James - the tenacious little spitfire! Can't wait to see what might develop between her and Gage!

Shattered had loads of action and even more suspense (is that even possible?). I loved how Landon develops in the story, especially concerning his faith, and how his and Piper's relationship develops. Piper's curiosity, stubbornness and antics made me laugh! I'm glad that they realised their feelings earlier rather than later in the book. I think I would have died if the going forwards and backwards in their relationship continued any longer! Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery, spine-tingling suspense and a sweet love story.

You don't want to miss this one!

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of Shattered since I read Submerged last year. Reconnecting with the McKennas is such a delight! I fell in love with Piper and Landon from the beginning and I'm so happy their story came next.

Picking a favorite McKenna is like picking a favorite book or child, you just shouldn't do it. I love them all! Granted, I don't know too much about Reef yet so it's hard to tell if I like him as much as the others. That being said, Piper's story is just as exciting, if not more so, than Cole's.

Shattered has a slightly different feel to it than the first in the Alaskan Courage series; probably because I am familiar with the characters and their dynamics. Nonetheless, it's a good different. I loved watching the early signs of romance between Gage and Darcy. I loved watching Piper and Landon interact. And I loved seeing Bailey and Cole so in love.

As a big fan of romantic suspense and mystery, I thoroughly loved this one and I cannot wait for Stranded to come out later this year! (Also, as a quick minor note I would not recommend this series to a younger audience but rather to older teens and adults. ;D)

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review of my opinions, which I have done. Thank you, Dani!
