She's Got Issues by Nicole Unice is a good Bible Study for individuals or groups. It helps women understand if they do have issues and what they are. We all have them at one time or another and the author helps the reader understand how to deal with them. She addresses control, insecurity, comparisons, fear, and anger. Mrs. Unice gives students a prayer, a journaling exercise, and topics for group discussion with each chapter. There are also QR codes to snap with your smart phone for more.

I'm the women's ministries director and pastor's wife at our church. I'm sincerely looking forward to doing this study with my ladies. We DO all have issues in these areas at some time or another. The devil really likes to hit women there. I wanted to get moved to our new church before I had to review this study so I could let my readers know how it is as a group study. Unfortunately, that just didn't happen. I will be reviewing this again after my ladies and I go through it together.

Women face different issues every day, but there is help in Christ. The author wrote about five different issues- control, insecurity, comparison, fear and anger (along with forgiveness). Each issue is discussed and then there are tips to overcome the problem. I thought the book was interesting and the exercises and quizzes helpful.

I've got issues. You've got issues. We've all got issues. And guess what? It's normal! What's not normal is to continue living with our issues once we come to the realization that we've got them. In She's Got Issues by Nicole Unice, the author helps us to recognize our issues. Whether is be an issue with comparing ourselves to others or being insecure, she gives great advice on what each issue looks like in a person's life, as well as how to begin steps on how to overcome them. Her writing style is comfortable and non-judgmental, as if she's our best friend having a heart-to-heart chat with us. No matter what our issues are, she gently informs us on how our issues are negatively affecting us and others around us and ultimately she guides back to the One who created us. She shows the reader how to put our faith, trust, and insecurities in God and let go of all of our issues.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's full of great information and was very enlightening to me. I have struggled with insecurity and comparison as two of my main issues for as long as I can remember. By reading this book, Nicole has helped me understand how detrimental these issues are for me and how vital it is for me to over come them. The first step was admitting to myself that I did indeed possess these issues and this was a ton easier to do after reading Nicole's accounts of her own issues. The book has many stories based on Nicole's counseling sessions with numerous women who had issues too. The need for authenticity among women is crucial nowadays. If we aren't authentic then we will feel isolated; as if we are the only one who struggles with these issues. If only we knew just how many women have the same struggles we do! Once we overcome our own issues, we then can start to help others to overcome theirs!

This book would be great for any woman, young or old!

Enough about me, let's talk about you. What do you think of me? — C.C. Bloom, Beaches

The above quote is from the book She's Got Issues, in chapter five entitled "Insidious Insecurity" which I believe is a good way to sum up the issues that many women face today.

Author, Nicole Unice in the book and DVD brings to light the issue of insecurity, as well as others such as comparisons, fear, anger, and unforgiveness. She also warns about the damage they will do to our relationships with Christ, our families and our lives, if left unchecked. Using Scriptures from the Bible, that author lays a good foundation on how to deal with these peace-stealers and how to enjoy God's presence while also restoring our joy in the everyday, mundane things in life. The same things, that may have become triggers for our issues.

Small groups will be in for treat using the book along with the DVD Group experience. In the DVD, Nicole and her friends bravely share their own experiences with control, insecurity, fear, anger and unforgiveness and the negative effects of that behavior, and how it can spill over into the lives of the ones we love.

Highly Recommended. She's Got Issues book and DVD Curriculum will be an enjoyable and refreshingly new way for women to face and discuss the tough issues facing women of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. I encourage getting the curriculum for yourself or for small discussion groups.

I was so excited to interview Nicole Unice at the launch of her first traditionally published book, She's Got Issues: Seriously Good News for the Stressed-out, Secretly Scared Control Freaks Like Us. I wanted to read and post a book review right away, but I also took three classes this summer. Reality has set in and I have read 19 school books (and they are not small) since I posted Nicole's interview in June. So I publicly apologize to Nicole and Tyndale for my delay in reviewing.

In the book, Nicole uses her counseling, ministry, and personal experiences to address the top five issues that affect women–control, insecurity, comparisons, fear, and anger (which also includes unforgiveness). In her writing, Nicole draws on the truths of scripture without brow beating or being preachy. She breaks down these very serious topics and puts them in the face of scripture in a manner that is digestible for the reader.

The one thing Nicole desires is that we confront our issues. But to confront our issues, anyone who has ever attended an AA meeting with tell you, "You have to first admit you have a problem." We all have a sin problem and that problem hurts us individually and it hurts the people around us. If you are wondering whether or not you have issues, take a hard look at the health of your relationships. In the Bible, James writes, "What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you can't have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures (James 4:1-3)."

So there you have it. Our sin distorts our motives, our relationship with God, and our relationship with others. Nicole challenges the reader to confront our issues (or sins) by seeking God and developing spiritual disciplines. In addition to providing practical strategies, the book contains guided prayers, journal exercises, and group discussion questions.

Which leads to my DVD review: It is my opinion that practical helps are most successful when affirmed in the context of a community. It is much easier to change your eating habits, lose weight, workout, stick to a diet, or accomplish any practical life goals once you have 1.) publicly confessed your desires and plans and 2.) asked someone to encourage you and help you work that plan. This is the importance of trusted small groups and friends.

Nicole has outlined the DVD in such away that friends, small groups, or book clubs can gather for 1 ½ hours of intimacy. The group sessions begin with Nicole's one-on-one session with a woman who is bold enough to publicly acknowledge and confront her issue. Then there is a [break] or pause segment to allow time for personal reflection and journaling. Nicole then closes and a teaching session on the topic. This format makes things easy for a group facilitator.

The DVD and book together make a perfect pair. I smiled while reading the "She's Got Issues Creed" at the end of the book. We all need to hold our issues loosely and hold this creed close to our hearts. If you want to know what it is, you have to pick up the book. Are you ready to confront your issues?
