I read this book several years ago when I was at a low point in my life emotionally and spiritually. It helped me to realize my worth in Gods eyes. I recommend it to anyone who is feeling unloved, unattractive,or unglued.

This is an amazing text that I have taught and now send to inmates for self-study. What a wonderful book, helping people recognize their value in Christ!

I purchased this workbook for a bible study class. Our instructor had some of the (text only) textbooks, which seemed to be a more wordy version of the workbook. The workbook itself can truly be utilized without the textbook or groups, but its nice to compare and discuss content in a study group.

The author stresses that we, and even others that have or will wrong us, are loved completely by God and nothing can change that, which is why we should be kind and loving to ourselves and others. He uses a lot of scripture to back that up in a way that is meaningful and applicable, not just thrown in for the sake of going on a Lifeway shelf.

My only geipe with the workbook is that it comes off a little...unnecessarily inteusive (?). It asks you to write the false statements and then the truth. I dont think its necessary to rewrite the false statement that the reader already knows all too well. It also asks the reader to write personal negative experiences in the 3" margins, but does not suggest applying any newly learned concepts to that reflection while disclosing past personal reflections. It would be nice if the book offered as much or preferably more lined space for the positive affirmations, since they're longer sentences than the negative. id also appreciate some lines in the margins, since the book often asks us to write in the margins.

I really love the pattern of a stand-alone workbook. Ive never done a stand-alone before. I would recommend the S4S workbook to any friend who is struggling with their identity in Christ and/or (I say this with loving observation) someone who seems to be a little short on giving God the glory for their acts of kindness. Personally, I enjoyed working through the book by myself and our instructor was very good about applying concepts in class. I found it helpful and enjoyable.
