Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Accelerating Pace!December 19, 2014Rebecca ManeyGastonia, North CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Elin Summerall is alive and well; with someone else's heart and apparently someone else's memory. Vivid nightmares recalling the hazy details of her donor's murder are becoming reality, especially when an alleged stalker becomes brazen enough to break into her home; putting Elin, her young daughter and her aging mother at risk. Moving her family to a remote cottage on Hope Island gives her a brief sense of security, but trouble seems to follow Elin; especially when FBI Agent Marc Everton gets involved, in more ways than one.
Marc Everton has not seen Elin Summerall in years and a previous encounter produced a daughter that he never knew he had. He has been aware that Elin was recently widowed and became the recipient of a heart transplant, but his investigation of a co-worker's murder brings him directly to Elin's front door. Highly skeptical of Elin's "cell memory" at first, he quickly puts credence in her recollections when they dig a little deeper into the facts of the case. And it is obvious that someone is desperate to silence Elin . . . . . for good. And what about Elin? And what about their daughter? Marc and Elin are faced with some important decisions . . . . if they live long enough to make them.
The pace of this romantic suspense quickly accelerates by the middle of the book; Colleen Coble has written another really good story!

This strange happening is getting a lot of unwanted attention from the press, the authorities, and worst of all - the killer himself!
Everyone seems dubious of her story, except for Agent Marc Everton. Together can they find out the secrets that Elin is remembering before the killer silences her?
My thoughts: I have been very picky of what books I read lately. The classics and a good fantasy or mystery has been more down my line. I was excited to read this book and then re-read it later on to do this review when I saw what it was about. The plot is amazing and twisted - mystery and suspense everywhere! I was a little dubious about Elin's flashbacks, but found from a little research that they can perhaps really happen.
It was a very well written story and had some romance (which I have been avoiding of late), but not a lot so I was fine with it.
It was by a favorite author of mine and she writes really good stories!
KaraAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Seagrass PierSeptember 2, 2014KaraAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Seagrass Pier, by Colleen Coble, is the third in the Hope Beach Novel series. It begins in Virginia Beach, Virginia. But like the first two books in the series, it is mainly set on Hope Island.
Elin Summerall has had a rough couple of years. Her husband passed away. She underwent a heart transplant. Her mother is developing dementia. And then Marc Everton appears at her door investigating an FBI case. As she is explaining to him that she has memories of the victims murder due to cell memory and is trying to convince him that the murderer is stalking her, her daughter comes outside to find her. Marc immediately knows he is the father of the child. When Elin moves to Hope Islands Seagrass Pier soon after, he follows her there both to investigate and to get to know his daughter. But Elin has a difficult time allowing him into Josies life, and Marc is determined not to lose any more time with her.
This was an incredible book. I had not heard of cell memory, so it was a refreshing change from the typical suspense novel. The thought of Elin remembering the murder and then needing to convince others that she was being stalked was a totally new idea. I also liked Marcs determination to be involved in his childs life once he was informed of her existence.
This was a terrific book, one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
Sherry KKansas4 Stars Out Of 5Great addition to the Hope Beach SeriesSeptember 1, 2014Sherry KKansasElin Summerall was able to receive a heart transplant but she's having a hard time dealing with what came with it. The woman she received the heart from was murdered and now Elin is having flashbacks of the murder and even some of the feelings, likes and dislikes of the donor. Cell memory is what they call it, but the police are having a hard time buying it and it's brought her a lot of unwanted attention, especially from the killer. Marc Everton is an off-duty FBI agent who is investigating the murder of his partner. It takes him to Hope Island and to Elin. Marc and Elin have a history together and he agrees to help protect her and her daughter. Messages from the killer let them know he's never far away. Can they figure out the mystery before it's too late?
Seagrass Pier is one that holds your attention all the way through. It's got, action, suspense, mystery and, of course, romance. The characters were great to get to know. I enjoyed meeting Elin and Marc. The secondary characters were great as well, especially Sara and Josh. You'll definitely find a faith thread running through the story but it was very natural and not over powering. I appreciated the author's note at the end where she reminds us how we grow and change but our "identity is in Christ who teaches us how to love others". There was one aspect of the story that didn't really have a conclusion. I won't say what it is, as it might be a spoiler. Perhaps it will be concluded in another Hope Beach story in the future. This was a great addition to the Hope Beach Series and although it's the third book in the series, you could very easily read it as a stand alone. If you're looking for a few hours of adventure, I recommend you dock your boat at Seagrass Pier.
